Cloudy and cold Sunday, that's for sure. We went from a high yesterday in the mid-70s to around 50 degF right about now. Stupid cold front.
So much for giving the dog a bath this weekend.
At least I can take care of my human children. They need more clothes, so it'll be off to Walmart a little later this morning. The girl needs new pants and shorts, maybe some new shirts. The boy needs some new shorts, maybe some new long pants, and definitely some new shirts as well.
With the boy it's getting a bit more challenging. He's hitting that point in his growth where he's becoming very tall and thin (like his old man), which can make finding good fitting pants...fun. The shirts are a bit easier. I can get him a small men's size now, and that'll work well.
While we're out and about, we might also either look around in Walmart's garden center, or go over to Lowe's. I need a new, small flower pot and a small bag of soil.
Back at Christmas my daughter received a plastic flower pot thing (in the shape of a book) from my in-laws. She decided to plant two seeds from an orange she had eaten. To my surprise, at least one of them has been growing. It's now reached the point where we probably need to transfer it to something bigger.
The boy inquired about going to see the new Minecraft movie. I told him not this weekend. Besides the visit to Walmart, I've also got a chicken that needs to go in the smoker around noon. That and laundry will take up a good portion of the rest of my day.
I just noticed the post count on this thread. Over 12K posts of me rambling like an idiot. So, not much different from real life.
I've come to believe the first step in not being an idiot all the time is to at least accept the fact you are an idiot some of the time.
There are many who need to learn this lesson.

Anyway, I've been working my way through a second cup of coffee while waiting for the bathroom space heater to do it's work. I'll go touch up one of my maps a bit, then get ready for the rest of my day.
Well, the shopping for new kid clothing was far less painful than I expected it to be. And we were able to pick up the small pot and some potting soil for my daughter’s (hopefully future) orange tree.
All that, and we still made it home just in time for that first load of laundry (which I put in right before we left) to finish. So about 48 minutes. That’s my kind of efficiency.
We'll see, but I have my doubts. For one, it's Monday. Two, it's cold in April. That just ain't natural. Three, I've still got this idiotic project with issues that just won't go away. Four, it's the first Monday of the month, which means I've got a troop committee meeting tonight. Which means I've got a long day ahead of me.
At least I had a really good drive to the office.
Seriously, it's like I had sacrificed a whole herd of cows to the traffic gods.
At least I was able to get some good reading done this weekend. I'm finished up with most of my Batman and Detective Comics back issues now. The next step is to start re-bagging and boarding the Bat books I already had.
And I've got to get off my butt and get that app the guys at the comic book store were telling me about. It lets you scan in the cover to record which books you have.
The only downside is it seems to only store it on a Cloud, and you can only access it through your phone. Although I recall them saying there might be desktop access if you pay a higher subscription. Which I just might do.
I started a rewatch of All of Us are Dead. Such a great show.
I saw an article about the Fantastic Four Trailer, saying it unveiled the "first look at the Silver Surfer". Except that's not the Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer is Norrin Radd. This is more an insult to Kirby.
Between that and Pedro Pascal, I really don't find myself caring that much for the movie.
Possibly. It's cold again. I had another good drive to the office, though. And yesterday was...adequate. From a work standpoint, anyway. I also had the troop committee meeting. That had some fun moments, but nothing horrid.
Still, I try not to get too positive anymore. I find if my life gets too happy, or even more decent than bad, The Universe will tend to dump some water on the fire.
So it's an attempt at balance, with just enough misery to satisfy The Universe. Not so much misery that I lose what little is left of my brain, however.
Tonight is another scout meeting, and I think I'll actually be getting up to make some announcements. Huzzah for me! We had to shift the date of the Court of Honor back one week, so I get to go into that a bit more, as well as make a few other points I've been eager about.
The main point, of course, being that the Assistant Scoutmasters need to do a better job of signing off on requirements. Mostly meaning they have to actually put MONTH/DATE/YEAR. Too many of them have just been putting two numbers, and sometimes it's hard to tell.
The legibility of their initials is another thing. I'm a little more lenient on that, however. My own handwriting can best be described as "there appears to have been a struggle'.
Anyway, the shift in the date for CoH means I get to put off my purchases from the scout shop for a week.
Maybe. The drive in wasn't as good as the last two days. The weather is a bit warmer though. Work could be interesting but will more than likely be boring.
The a-hole dog keeps chewing stuff. Monday she destroyed a plastic cup from our 2016 Disney trip. Yesterday she destroyed my daughter's jacket and one of my wife's old paperbacks.
I keep telling my wife to lock her in her kennel each day. Then the wife complains she whines too much. So either way I've got a female whining about something.
The meeting went well last night, except we had to kind of rush the Boards of Review. There was a guest speaker invited to talk to the scouts about being an entrepreneur, and he went on for nearly an hour.
Bad timing on the invite, but I don't want to give too much criticism about it. The new scoutmaster is, I think, under a bit of stress about his performance. I think he's doing wonderful. The previous scoutmaster is still heavily involved, however, and the kind of a-hole who will condescendingly offer his advice at every turn.
At least tonight I don't have to go anywhere. So when I leave work, it'll be straight home.
Well, not completely straight. I might stop at a few locations first. I'd like to get money out of the ATM. I might also stop at Lowe's for a new refrigerator filter and birdseed for the feeders.
The filter is the priority. The others would just be the icing.
I found out the other day that the old dude who was working for us as a contractor was creeping on several of the women in the office. Might be his sudden self-departure was because he saw the writing on the wall, so to speak.
Anyway, on to other things.
And Happy Anniversary to me of telling cigarettes to F$#K OFF!
Well, that was weird. I hit submit on my previous post, and it took me to an error page. When I hit the back button, it took me right back here. My post was there, but it showed me as trying to repeat post the same thing.
Anyway, work was mostly boring yesterday. Then ended on a frustrating note. The evening at home was okay.
I slept poorly again last night, however. That's every night this week so far. It does take a toll.
Still, the drive in was rather pleasant. So we'll see how things go for the rest of the day.
I do have to remember to tell the boy to pack for his campout this weekend. So there might be two loads of clothes I need to wash. Though I'll try to consolidate into one, just to make things easier on myself.
I ended up coming home early today. The boy had a dentist appointment and someone needed to be here when the girl got home from school.
I guess, anyway. Probably have to wait and see. I slept somewhat better last night, but my stomach is bothering me a bit this morning. And I don't have much to do, workwise.
At least I didn't have to drive to the office. That's always nice to not have to do.
I'm hoping (if my stomach feels better) the wife and I can maybe go on a lunch date to Wacky Mongolian. That'd be a nice lunch.
Later on this evening I will have to bring the boy over to the church for his campout this weekend. It's Camporee, where the troop competes against other troops for a shovel trophy and bragging rights.
I'm guessing my brother will be there. Probably his wife and daughters as well. Maybe even his son.
I got a surprise cupcake yesterday. Suprise cupcakes are the best cupcakes. This one had home made icing. It was from a coworker who's wife apparently loves to cook and bake. One time, not too long ago, he brought in a container full of empanada's she had made.
Normally I wouldn't go for a cupcake, even a surprise one. Too much sugar. Since I was celebrating the whole quitting smoking thing, though, I figured "why not?".
