I don't think I'm going to watch them tonight. Nor will I watch Train to Busan. Most likely, I'll continue on the show I started last night: Sweet Home.
This is another South Korean show. It was suggested by someone here on this message board.
I'm not sure when it happened, but suddenly my Youtube suggestions are filled with a bunch of K-Pop stuff. Along with the usual comics and geeky stuff I usually get. I suspect running searches through Safari on various Korean TV shows and movies might be to blame. I can think of no other reason.
Although, there was that short time I was watching Baby Metal videos. That was on the old phone, however, so probably didn't get transferred over to the new phone.
To this day, I'm still not sure why I started watching the Baby Metal stuff. Or when those first started popping up.
Huzzah! My new comic book day!
I was considering going to the dump this morning, but my stomach is bothering me again.
Something that's been bugging me for a bit now....
That "breakdancing" chick from Australia, the one who made an ass of herself in the Olympics. Seriously, do they have to put her in so many memes? It ain't that funny.
And I won't even get into the idiocy of adding breakdancing to the Olympics. That's just f$#king stupid.
This weekend I plan to team up with the children to do something they failed to do in the few days before school started - clean the house up a bit.
My daughter got her brand new yo-yo from Amazon yesterday. After an hour or so, she got frustrated and threw it against the wall. Now it has a piece broken off. I'll have to get some glue at the store to fix it.
So she's back to using her older yo-yo this morning. She's hasn't even been up half an hour and is already sniffling and snuffling.
One of the things I hate about getting older is seeing people in pop culture, that are supposedly very popular, and asking "who?".
Then again, I'm Gen X. Most of us seem to have a healthy distrust of pretty much everything.
That's also one of the reasons I tend towards older things when it comes to music/reading/TV/etc. Or at least things by older people.
The older music is vastly superior.
Writing by older folks is typically vastly superior to modern crap.
Older TV shows and movies are often superior as well. Although this is where the trend breaks down some. There's still some really good new stuff in the realm of TV and movie. You just have to sift through a lot of crap.
Anyway, might do a bit of mapping this morning. Then get started on my usual day.
Happy Sunday?!? Hopefully.
At some point this morning, the boy and I will get outside to do a little yard work.
Yesterday, I made all the family do housework. Except the dog, of course. The wife and daughter cleaned bathrooms. The boy and I swept and vacuumed downstairs, and dusted off the various shelves and the stuff sitting on them.
Today, we'll probably do more cleaning. The kitchen needs some effort.
Somewhere up in all that, I hope to do some reading.
And my bluray copy of Battle Royale should arrive today. SO maybe I'll take a break from Sweet Home to watch that.
Speaking of Sweet Home, I made it to the end of season 1. I was bummed when the old dude's nurse died. I liked her. I was slightly less bummed when the old dude died. I was very much expecting that. He was my favorite character.
And, holy crap! The chick who plays the firefighter is 42 years old! I would have taken her for at least late 20s early 30s.
That's something I've heard about women from Japan/Korea/etc. A acquaintance from my days working for the Navy had a wife who was Japanese. And he lived over in Japan (his house had a gorgeous view). He told me it was typical of most women over there to look younger than their actual ages.
As I recall, he says it had something to do with diet.
Anyway, before I get started on yard work, I think I'll have a third cup of coffee while I work on a new map.
Ouch. It sucks to be reminded that you aren’t as young as you used to be. Just and hour and a half of it, and I’m pretty wiped out.
It doesn’t help that I currently lead a very sedentary lifestyle. I need to exercise more.
Of course, the other sucktastic part of getting older is having to put up with the opinions of young idiots.
Sweet! Got my copy of Battle Royale. Something I didn’t realize when I ordered it, it’s got the Director’s Cut and the sequel. Huzzah!
Well, I decided not to watch BR last night. Instead, I continued on with Sweet Home on Netflix. Into season 2 now, and they've already killed off at least two characters I liked.
This morning was the worst so far with new school year traffic. Even then, it wasn't too bad once I got past the initial group of cars and school buses slowing things down. There was one complete idiot right as I was getting off the interstate, but I got around that one.
Seriously, who gets into the lane for the off ramp and then hits their brakes for no reason?
Should be a somewhat busy week. Maybe not with work, but personally.
I've got a BSA troop committee meeting tonight. Then the regular troop meeting tomorrow. And some time this week I've got to try and get a plumber out to the house to take care of the gas line out back. And I've got to get at least two doctor appointments scheduled, maybe three.
Then I've got to try and resist ordering anything from Amazon this week.
Anyway, almost time to get to (something resembling) work.
Well, yesterday wasn't too bad. Kept reasonably busy for most of the day.
Then I had the troop committee meeting. Other than having to put up with the a-hole current scoutmaster, it was somewhat fun.
Speaking of the fat turd of a current scoutmaster....Thank all that's holy and unholy he's stepping down soon. Now we'll get someone who I'm thinking will be vastly superior in the position.
And our meeting was over quickly enough I was able to get home and watch some of my tv show.
So now I'm back in the office. Again.
Tonight is the regular scout troop meeting. I've got at least one Board of Review to get through. Not my own son, of course. He doesn't seem to care about advancing. Which, I think, is part of the reason why I consider the current scoutmaster to be so poor at the job. He hasn't done much to encourage my son (or several others).
And we've also had several disciplinary problems with the troop under the current scoutmaster. Had to kick one kid out. And almost kick another kid out. Now last night I find out there was an incident on the summer trip to Scotland for the International Jamboree.
So....yeah....I won't be sad to see the a-hole go.
A somewhat humorous story from the scout meeting last night.
One of the mom's is involved with an upcoming event and had to call other parents during the day yesterday to discuss it with them. She called from her work phone, so the number that showed up on people's caller ID was that office. And it's a family law office.
Not many people answered.
My co-worker has a son who's special needs. The school screwed up the boy's bus riding arrangement, so my co-worker has to leave work early every day to go pick him up instead. They're taking their own sweet time fixing the issue. Which doesn't surprise me in the least.
We've got a scout who turns 18 on Friday. He's still scrambling to get his Eagle requirements done. Several of them are requirements he had all summer to accomplish.
I don't think he wants it.
Last week, I complained to my boss that I wasn't getting enough work. He said he'd find more for me.
So far, nothing. Typical.
Sad thing is, in a meeting on Monday he specifically said he'd assign me some calculations to do. Haven't seen the task yet. Sent him a reminder yesterday. Not sure why I bother.
