Coincidentally, one co-worker decided to work from home the rest of the week. He claims it's so he can get more work done (since he won't have to waste time each day commuting). I'm beginning to suspect otherwise....
So I'm just spreading the rumor he sabotaged the AC system.
The managers have discovered a new feature from Microsoft Teams they want everyone to use. It's called Planner. I...dislike it.
Mostly because it's just one more stupid box my old man brain has to remember to check.
Anyway, time to move on to other things. If the office gets as boring as it usually does these days, I might come back and post a bit more.
That, of course, would depend on if the big boss is in, and whether he hangs out in his office or goes off to a meeting.
Happy Thursday?!? Maybe. Hopefully.
I am beginning to suspect I have developed an intolerance for pork.
The big boss sent me an email inquiring about some test letters I was supposed to write, then sign and stamp. He wanted an update ASAP.
I told him I sent the letters last week (Wednesday the 31st, to be precise) for review. Since I haven't heard anything back from the person who was supposed to review them (unless you count him also asking me for an update this past Monday, several days after I sent him the letters), I will move forward with them.
And this is why I don't trust management.
Anyway...in preparation for the upcoming Halloween season, and because I was bored one day, I made a list of more horror movies I want to own. Physical media, if possible.
So then I ordered two of the movies on that list: The Beast Must Die from Amicus Studios and The Hound of the Baskervilles from Hammer Films. I'll probably order more soon.
Then yesterday I ordered two more of the books from the History of World Architecture series, of which I already have several. This time around I'm getting Primitive Architecture and Pre-Columbian Architecture of Mesoamerica.
One of those is coming from the UK, so it'll be a while before it gets here.
At least I don't have to drive to this place tomorrow.
The drive this morning was pretty decent, until I was getting on the interstate. Then I had a moron in front of me, creeping along at a snail's pace when he should have been accelerating to merge. At the same time, I had another moron already on the interstate, creeping along at a snail's pace in the lane we needed to merge on to.
I had to kind of cut them both off in order to get around them. Idiots.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
More like repeating it to myself over and over in hopes it'll come true.
At least I've actually had some work to do this week.
I received my copy of The Beast Must Die yesterday. I went ahead and watched the movie. It's not...great, but it's a fun little werewolf movie.
The premise, at least, is excellent: Wealthy businessman and big game hunter decides that one of a group of people is a werewolf. He invites them all to his isolated estate, now tricked out with all kinds of high-tech (for the 70s) surveillance gear, so that he can figure out who the werewolf is and hunt them. Hilarity ensues.
After that, I watched the first episode of this show I'd heard good things about. It's another South Korean zombie show, but this one set in modern times. The name is All of Us are Dead. First episode is pretty good, if a little teen angsty.
This show has twelve episodes, so I should be able to make it last a few days.
I have been offered the job I interviewed for about 2 weeks ago. I plan to turn them down, however. I really don't want to start dealing with a horrible commute again.
I've got a lot to do this weekend, so that will have to wait until Monday.
I've got my usual stuff today - grocery, dry cleaners, comic book store. Then we've also got to go over to Target or Walmart (most likely) to get new clothes for the children. They start school on Wednesday.
Which means I'll also have more laundry than usual to do this weekend.
And at some point I've got to make a run over to Lowe's. And oversee the dog getting a bath. And get my son a haircut. And some yard work.
And I meant to go to the dump this morning, but completely forgot.
In my defense, I was feeling a little off this morning.
I might be able to do the dump later today, however.
I'm sure I have other things I'm forgetting. That just comes with age. I've learned to accept it.
Oh, yeah! I've got to pay bills at some point today.
It’s too damned hot outside. I ain’t going to no dump today.
I at least had to come back here and see what other things I may have forgotten about doing.
Turns out, I still gotta pay bills. First I’m going to relax with a bit of reading.
Later I may watch Beetlejuice. Picked it up on Blu-ray while we were at Walmart.
I'm disappointed in myself. I failed to check whether the bluray of Hound of the Baskervilles I purchased would work on my PS5. It did not.
And my stomach was acting up again last night. Between that, and the off/on crappiness I've been feeling, I think it's time for another trip to the doctor's office. Maybe more than one office - primary and GI specialist.
I'm also deciding whether I want to get an appointment with another type of specialist, but I think I'll wait until after I see my primary for that.
I did not end up paying bills yesterday. I did it just a few minutes ago, however.
Today, I'll supervise the boy giving his dog a bath. I might also have him do some yard work with me. Not much, though. I'm still feeling a bit crappy.
And there's also laundry to do.
And I really should do some bagging, boarding, and organizing of my comics.
Tomorrow I've got to remember to call the plumber. I want them to send someone out to work on the gas line on my back porch. It needs to have a tee and second valve installed, so I can hook up my generator hose and have it on standby for any future power loss.
I always let the plumber handle anything gas line related. Best to let the professionals do that.
Same with anything electrical these days. Although, to be honest, the most I ever did electrical was change out fixtures and the occasional wall outlet.
And I've got to remember to get the boy a haircut.
At least I had a decent drive in to work.
Yesterday was fairly productive. Started off with a bit of mapping. Helped the boy give his dog a bath. Then I cleaned up my sidewalks a bit, mostly sweeping up the little flowers that fall from one of my trees. Then I took the boy to get a much-needed haircut.
That was all by 10:30 am.
After that I did four loads of laundry, and some comic book reading.
