It’s not nearly as bad for me as it is for Mr. Jim. He got in early to do some work and now he can’t do it.
This same thing happened a few Mondays ago. After several hours down, all they had to do was turn something off, then turn it on again.
At least it looks like the days of rain we were getting have finally come to an end. For now anyway.
Now we’re supposed to have a week or two of sunshine.
AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!
We finally got our network back after about 2-1/2 hours. From what one IT dude told us they think it was a power outage at the building over the weekend. It lasted long enough to drain some back up batteries they had, so that things didn't reboot the way they were supposed to.
So, just like last time, they had to turn something back off, then turn it on again.
So we then briefly discussed how often the turn it off/turn it on trope appears to be accurate.
Seems the truism of there's always some truth to a myth is also accurate.
Huzzah! Thomas is back! Again!
The cool Thomas, that is.
Hopefully, my co-workers finally watched House of the Dragon. Then we can talk about it.
One guy had been travelling on Sunday and didn't get the chance. The other guy does his watching through some funky online service, which gets him the show a day late.
After seeing the trailer for the new Hellboy movie, I decided to reread the short story last night. I'd forgotten how good some of those stories are.
After that, I decided to watch the original Fright Night. Such a great movie.
Anyway, time to make something resembling donuts. I guess.
Well, that remains to be seen. At least I started off decently, with a mostly easy and uneventful drive in to work.
Unlike yesterday, when I had to go downtown in the afternoon. Getting back from that was a clusterf$%k. Stoopid Houston traffic.
And what kind of mental deviant designs an HOV/Express lane with only a handful of on/off ramps?
Not really. That's just something cool to say, I think....
Just for the hell of it, I rewatched Godzilla Minus One last night. Such a great movie.
I keep getting these Dell update requests on my work computer. It allows the option of snoozing the update for as much as 1 day. So far, I think I've kept this at bay for about a month.
I was out the door a little earlier than usual, by about 10 minutes or so. Which meant even lighter traffic than normal. It was.....pleasant.
Last night I was searching around for something to watch and decided to finally start on that live action One Piece. I've never read the Manga, nor watched the anime version, so it was completely new to me.
I found it quirky, but entertaining. The kid with the straw hat is unerringly optimistic. I like him.
In the aftermath of hurricane Beryl, after being without power for 6 days, I ordered a generator. It finally arrives today. It's not much. Maybe just enough to run the refrigerator and some fans. That'll do, though.
I'll also get a new comic that I had ordered awhile back. It's the next book from the Rippaverse.
And I think both my bosses will be out of the office this morning. Which makes me happy. The bigger boss has an office right behind me, so he sometimes stares at me.
It's creepy.
Otherwise, I just have to try and keep myself busy.
A bored zombie can be a dangerous zombie.
Chances might be about average to slightly better than average.
Watching more of the live action One Piece last night, the boy made some comments that sounded like he's been watching the anime.
I approve.
Maybe I can get him to start reading some manga? I think I'd prefer he go down that road, instead of being a collector of American comics. Especially considering the craptastic state of that industry these days. Jim Shooter had it right.
Then again, I suppose it would depend on the American comic. There are still a few that are pretty decent, with some solid writers and artists.
Anyway.....I've got a dentist cleaning appointment in just over an hour. It was supposed to be on a Wednesday two weeks back but changed it. Since work from home got moved to Fridays.....
My new generator was delivered yesterday. It's still in the box, but I'll break that open later today. As I recall, there will be some assembly required, but I think it's mostly putting wheels on.
I need a new desk here at home. The old one has finally gotten to the point where it's not as useful as it was.
It had broken years ago, when we moved into this house. AT the time I had managed to jury-rig it to keep the desk mostly intact. Now the tray under the main desk, where the keyboard rested, has finally broken.
So....new desk time. I'm not in a hurry though. I'll take my time and find something I truly like, and that fits well in the space I have available.
The last thing I want to do is rearrange my entire front room.
Although, I might not be opposed to adjusting the positions of a few items.
I also received my copy of the latest Rippaverse comic yesterday. Haven't had a chance to read it yet. Hoping to get around to that today.
A few days prior I had also ordered a copy of the Rippaverse magazine. They made issues #2 available late one night this week.
Not sure how long it'll be before that gets fulfilled.
Apparently, there were two baby birds in our backyard yesterday. And the mom & dad birds were freaking out whenever our dog would go near to sniff them.
I checked this morning, and didn't see them. Either they managed to recover and fly away, or they're dead.
Huzzah! My teeth are clean!
And my appointment was with my favorite hygienist this time. We got to discuss BG3, which was cool. And we geeked out over a few other pop culture things as well.
Though she was disappointed when I told her I didn't watch the RoP Abomination from Amazon. She claimed her brother had worked on some of the soundtrack.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rest of my day. Beyond work, of course.
Lunch is an especially important point on which I must dwell.
Well, someone was in a pissy mood.
