It should be a short work week. Thursday is the 4th of July. And I'm planning to take off on Friday.
With any luck, by next weekend some time I'll have beaten BG3. After that, I'll either run through again as a monk. Or I'll make use of the superior PS5 to run some games that were super slow and froze up a lot on the PS4.

Well, that's sad to hear. Maybe I won't bother with it again.
In other news, my bosses decided to change Work from Home Wednesday to Work from Home Friday. I'm both happy and sad about this.
I'm happy because it'll be more like having a three-day weekend over week.
I'm sad because it'll mean no mid-week break from coming into the office.
Although, to be honest, the mid-week break was more important to me when I was sick last year.
Ah well. I'll get used to it.
I've often been amazed at my own ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Maybe, though, it's not just me. Maybe everyone's good at it. They just don't talk about it.
Played more BG3 last night. Started Act 3 in earnest. The first thing they do is force a fight with some badass Githzerai. And now I really want to play a monk.
One of the things I'm slightly bummed about in this game is they don't have Aasimar as a playable race. I would have liked to be one, maybe.

That the creators deny the change to play a half-celestial, then not only can you play a half-fiend, but randomly throw a stone in any direction and you'll hit one, makes me think they have the morals of guttersnipes.
That, and the fact they try to force certain relationships on you. Sorry, but some of those NPCs are a-holes.
I did accept being a half-illithid. Not by choice, mind you. The dialogue I chose forced it on me.
Still, I won't let my character go further than that. Though I did get some cool new mind powers out of it.
Well, yesterday was kind of sucktastic.
Went most of the day with very little to do at work. Then, just prior to when I would have been leaving, I was suddenly told I had to fill out the new check sheet they'd told us about Monday, for the drawing package we were trying to send out.
This was, of course, the same check sheet they had told us would be filled out by the project manager.
So I had to stay about 40 minutes longer. Then I found two errors in the package. The scale on two details was off.
So I sent that back to be corrected and went home, promising to jump back on when I got home and check the corrected drawings.
On the way home, I realized something else that had been missed, thanks to a last-minute change by the project manager.
I got everything fixed up at home, but was so distracted by all that I ate nearly an entire piece of toast (one half of my dinner) before realizing it had some spots of mold on it.
So now my stomach has been upset.
That's all so far, but I'm sure The Universe has worse in store for me. That's the way of things.
At least I got to close out the evening with a little BG3. Even finished a few of the smaller quests of Act 3.
I skipped posting yesterday. Partly because it was the 4th of July. Partly because I wanted to spend more time playing BG3.
Speaking of which, I was getting a little frustrated at the ridiculous fight you have to engage in order to free Shadowheart from the clutches of the vile Church of Shar. That is one seriously unbalance encounter.
I'd say the designers meant to try and force the player to be evil and betray Shadowheart. Or to be evil by encouraging her throughout the game to remain a disgusting Shar worshipper, instead of being redeemed back to the side of good. Sounds like something people utterly lacking in true morals would do.
Which is typical of the entertainment industry as a whole, I think.
Anyway, so I was going to be taking an entire day off today. Those plans changed, however, late on Wednesday.
Turns out our old group lead, who left about a month or so back for another job, neglected to pass on some small but significant redlines from a client. So the package we sent out didn't incorporate what they wanted and they were rightly pissed off.
We had to borrow a guy from another group to fix the drawings because our designers didn't want to do it. Pathetic, but understandable.
He sent out some of the drawings corrected late Friday. I checked them this morning, answered a question about another drawing he needs to update, and now I'm waiting on word back about the package.
I'm still hoping to at least have a half-day of PTO.
Otherwise, my Wednesday wasn't too bad. Neither was my Thursday, to be honest.
Brought the boy over to his friend's house to spend the night and watch some fireworks. Hope he had fun and behaved himself.
Cooked some burgers on the grill for dinner last night.
That was about the extent of my 4th of July-ishness.
That, however, is what's awesome about my country. You can celebrate a holiday however you want.
Anyway. Not fully sure what I'm going to do today, besides some office work.
Definitely play BG3 at some point. If I have time, I might run out to the comic book store today, instead of my usual Saturday run.
And, before I forget....
BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA! GREATEST COUNTRY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!
My morning was both pleasing and unpleasant. Pleasing because I beat Auntie Ethel (again, and for the final time) in BG3. Unpleasant because I'm having stomach issues again.
I still managed to accomplish many of my usual Saturday tasks: grocery store, comic book store, picked up daughter from art class, laundry.
Now I've been listening to a youtube show I like. It was live last night, so this is just the recorded version. Which is nice, since then I can stop and start it whenever.
And we've started to get the rain I've been expecting. I think this is from the hurricane that was passing further south. We'll be getting more rain over the next couple days. Which the plant life will be thankful for.
I did end up working about 2 hours yesterday. So not as bad as I thought it would be.
I'm liking the rain. My dog, on the other hand, is not a fan.
I was very disappointed the new Savage Sword of Conan didn't come out this week. That's an awesome magazine.
Going to try and spend some time reading this afternoon. Then play BG3 later tonight.
