Scarab Sages

So I guess waking up a bit early and not being able to get back to sleep has its benefits on occasion.

Scarab Sages

Damn, wind is really going crazy out there. I almost wonder if we're due for more tornado action.

Scarab Sages

For the first time in quite some time, I posted in the old Fawtly thread. I imagine some of the posters there were wondering what I was doing invading "their" thread.

Scarab Sages

Meh, this too shall pass.

Scarab Sages

At least it is Friday. And with this weather popping up all of a sudden, I wonder how many folk we'll get in the office today.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

Scarab Sages

I should watch that movie again.

Scarab Sages

Maybe I can introduce my boy to it.

Scarab Sages

I would "pour one out" for the PMG, but I like to think he'd prefer I not waste it.

Scarab Sages

"There are thirsty smurfs in the loaf, Aberzombie. Don't you dare waste that beer."

Scarab Sages

Of course it would be her.

Scarab Sages

I sincerely doubt Lord of All Code would have cared whether I waste a beer or not.

At this point, I'm just rambling.

Scarab Sages

Memories
Like the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were

Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Scarab Sages

Today is the birthday of the young lady who works in our group. She's a nice kid. It seems someone decorated her cubicle last night.

Scarab Sages

And left gifts for her.

Scarab Sages

I hope she gets to see them. This weather might keep her away.

Scarab Sages

At the same time, it makes me a little sad I don't have friends who would do that for me.

Scarab Sages

Ah well.

Scarab Sages

I really don't feel like making any kind of donuts this morning. Whether metaphorical or not.

Scarab Sages

Still, I'm finished with my first cup of coffee, so I supposed I could get number two.

Scarab Sages

Not sure what's going on today workwise. I think I've got most of my big issues done.

Scarab Sages

Long day. And circumstances foiled my work lunch plans, so I had to scrounge for whatever. Luckily, I squirrel extra supplies away for such an occasion.

Scarab Sages

Still, I was starving when I finally got home (late). Thankfully, the wife had ordered dinner already. And it arrived right after I walked in the front door.

Scarab Sages

Unfortunately, the wife only ordered me two lbs of crawfish. And she got the very spicy kind. I should have been a bit more specific. Nevertheless, they were tasty.

Scarab Sages

Now I really need to take a probiotic.

Stoopid old man stomach.

Scarab Sages

Cleaning up dog poop around the house. Is there a better way to start the morning or weekend?

Scarab Sages

The answer, of course, is "yes".

Scarab Sages

Or maybe "hells yes!"

Scarab Sages

But now the boy is already awake, which will make a trip to the public dump this morning a little easier.

Scarab Sages

And it's almost time for me to have coffee!!

Scarab Sages

After I take my medicine, it's an 1/2 hour before I can eat, and an hour before I can drink coffee.

Scarab Sages

Stoopid Thyroid.

Scarab Sages

I submitted a plan to the HOA to remove the oak tree on my front lawn and plant a different tree. The damn thing's roots have grown all over the surface and killed the grass.

Scarab Sages

The problem was the tree was planted at too high a grade. So the best move is to cut it out, then grind and dig out all the roots.

Scarab Sages

After that, we'll have a new tree and new grass put down.

Scarab Sages

And this place still isn't the same.

Scarab Sages

Loooong day yesterday. Very long, but good.

Scarab Sages

Started off having to clean up dog poop in the house. She must have eaten something that disagreed with her…

Scarab Sages

Then it was an 8:00 am visit to the public dump. Had to get rid of some junk.

Scarab Sages

After that it was shower and visit the grocery store.

Scarab Sages

Then, in quick succession, we had to pick my daughter up from art class, visit the comic book store, visit Total Wine and More, and go to Saltgrass for my nephew’s high school graduation lunch.

Scarab Sages

My old high school buddy, who’s good friends with my younger brother (and my nephew’s godfather), was in town for the graduation. So it was nice to catch up with him.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, by the time we left Saltgrass it was 3 pm. We went home for a bit, then over to my brother’s house a little after 4 pm. We were there until just after 6, when we left for the graduation.

Scarab Sages

The graduation itself wasn’t until 8 pm, but it was an hour away at NRG Stadium (where the Texans play). It was the last of like 5 or 6 high school graduations being done there, all from Klein ISD.

Scarab Sages

My nephew’s graduating class had 816 students. The wife and kids and I, along with my mother, stayed until he walked across the stage, then headed out. I think we got home around 9:30.

The graduation finally let out around 9:45.

Scarab Sages

Once home, I had a beer and chilled before going to bed.

Scarab Sages

This morning I was up and out the door early again, this time to bring the boy over to meet his scout troop. They left for summer camp this morning.

Scarab Sages

So now my daughter will be an only child for a week. Something that seems to please her. For now.

Scarab Sages

Not sure what the rest of my day holds. A shower. Washing clothes. Stuff like that mostly.

I’ll probably read some comics as well.

Scarab Sages

I had a Facebook memory today of waking up to my then 2-year old boy, sitting in his bed singing the Bumblebee Song. So now that damnable song is stuck in my brain.
