@Algar, Ashe, and our 4th person (maybe a bard)- I was thinking of a tragic lost love. Perhaps my lost love was one of the heroes sent that died. This being said, it will be one of the rare times I play a girl character, lol. I also thought of her originally being sent as a small time medic to the battlefield and had to witness the death of her love in person (hence my asking of the Deny the Reaper feat). This; however, isn't required as I can't seem to have a great wisdom score along with my other stats.

I have my stats figured out for a reach build:

If Aasimar:

Doing Life mystery for sure (As great as the Elf archetype is, I don't want to lose the restoration spells (until the 4th level, 8 oracle levels, wordspell). Granted the extra options for spells (at a higher level) would be nice for the versatility. If I go Aasimar, I will sink those favored bonuses into Channel. If I go half-elf, I'll be using a fauchard as a weapon from ancestral arms. Decisions... /sigh

For a shared back-story, we could all have been minor people on the battlefield when s retreat was sounded. That could be where we met. Because we each experienced the loss of friends (or others), we feel a shared connection to carry-on with their courage and help find and take part in creating a world safe for everyone.


build is done, working through words of power to get a good grasp on them. I havent given the backstory much though yet. I think it should cover us meeting and leveling to where we are so what brought us all together? Do you guys have a prefrence on our 4th? I mentioned Bard as it looks like we all will be fighting so a Arcane Duelist type buffing us up would be pretty good.

Forgotten dungeons and ancient tombs have always held an appeal for you, and you've never been able to resist the urge to delve into these lost sites in search of knowledge, treasure, or both. You may not have received any formal training in the roguish arts, but you've nonetheless become skilled at spotting and disabling hidden traps. The tombs of of the necropolis, just opened for exploration, seem like the perfect place to put your skills to the test.

Benefit(s): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Disable Device checks, and that skill is always a class skill for you. In addition, you can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps, like a rogue.

Half-Elf or Half-Orc: Can a character of either of these races select human racial favored class options?

Yes. Half-elves and half-orcs may select racial favored class options, archetypes, traits, and so on, as if they were a full member of both races (a half-elf can select elf and human rules elements, a half-orc can select human and orc rules elements).

We also could have some weird guardian ship where the blackblade would actually be a familial protector of sorts come back to the death to provide guidance in order to help prevent impeding doom. (or something like the key to the prison of a powerful deamon we are all trying to flee from)

@Ashe: I just had an idea of making a blade bound Bladed Scarf Magus and our weapon could be the conduits to a mystical place were we collected the souls of all The Elven population so that if the new world is viable it can act as a life conduits so that the Elven race can be reborn again.

You would have died in our crusade to get the soul conducted to the Demi-Plane and the Powerful wizard could only reincarnate you in a human (or go 1/2 elf or full elf race...)

The use of Words of Power vs traditional spells is cooking my brain.

I have an understanding of how Words of Power work but the lack of any type of touch attack boosting abilities (e.g. no spectral hand) is making me fry out about the starting words I'm taking.

Any Advice guys?

Sadly I'm going to have to turn down Fey Foundling, the worlds in question are not tied to the same magic and in fact are untouched by the first world so the magic of the fey would not aid you there

Out of curiosity, will we be starting out before we go through the portals of just after we went through the planar portal?


Before, there is some exposition and decision making first as to which team gets which portal


Awesome! I'm hoping I can net some extra gear via talking with the other refuges.

Now to play the waiting game as the other PC's finish being created.

Unless there is some setting materials you think I should be reviewing? (for example the words of power that I missed somehow.)


@Ralwind (and I guess DM avian loft) I do have to wonder about the effectiveness of a prepared arcane caster in this campaign. I think the most common benefits of one is the ability to access as many spells as one can transcribe (and for the wizard item creation, of course) but (and I may be wrong on this) I don't think we are going to find any of these words readily (such as say a scroll or another wizard's book)


Who KNOWS what people may find in these other worlds? :P ;) I haven't said any such thing would not be found ;)

Perfectly fine with creating a fighter melee of some sort (especially as I don't know bards and have been wanting to make a non-spell casting character for a while now.) I'll look into some options...

I wouldn't be able to learn higher than lvl 4 spells as a bard though. Unless we find items that raise Cha.


I put a reminder of my ranger archer, without spells, as he is guide/skirmisher, and the will to change from skirmisher to trapfinder if the groups thinks it will fit better!
