Serbia under water

If anyone's interested.

Bummer!

We're getting tons of rain in Texas which has been in a drought; probably since 1860; nothing that bad yet though.

Grand Lodge

That picture gives new "depth" to the Highway Ends sign.

Wish they could send us a bit of that in the western US.

Sovereign Court

You really really don't. Trust me.

No, we really do. They are having fire-spouts in California. It's as dry as hell where I live too.

Seems the Gods are angry this year.

Sovereign Court

So you'd rather your state drown and every major city but one to be completely destroyed?

Check this one for instance

At least if California got it there's a chance it would wash Michael Bay into the Pacific. *rimshot*

You're right Hamma this is so much better than flooding.

Putting snarkiness aside, I think we are saying that it would be nice if they could get a bit less rain and we could get some rain.

Also, make all the California jokes you like, just remember how much we depend on that state for produce. A bad year for growing in California will drive the price of food up.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A man who rose prices of water and basic foodstuffs in his store gut stoned yesterday.
Plus, he's facing criminal charges.

That's why it's always important to be prepared for a rainy day.

Seriously, though, my sympathies man. Sounds like you are going to have a lot of mass to clean up, not to mention the casualties. I hope as many people as possible get out of this in good health.

Sovereign Court

Several towns are completely gone. I just received news that my grandparent's house in the country was destroyed in a landslide.
Good thing that they passed away a year or so ago so that they didn't have to witness something that they built with their own hands go down.

Sovereign Court

Well, unofficial reports are trickling in (the government is trying to supress them because they are a bunch of useless s***s).
Around 4000 dead, hundreds missing, tens of thousands left homeless. Disease and parasites run rampant.

That's awful. Hasn't Serbia already had enough woes in its history?

Stay safe, Hama -- we'll be thinking of you.

Scarab Sages

It tends to be flat, low-lying countries that are considered most at risk of flooding, but this shows that anyone can be affected.

I hope things improve soon, and the damage be limited.

Sovereign Court

Several towns are already completely gone. What isn't will have to be demolished.

There is a good chance that a coal power plant that supplies around 40% of our power will shut down soon and also be flooded.

The worst is yet to come.

Scarab Sages

That is terrible. All the best for you, you friends and your family. Please check in regularly, if you can, to let us know you are ok!

Sovereign Court

I will be fine 90%.
I'm too high up and in the capital city.
A lot of my friends lost everything, however.

Sovereign Court

This used to be the town of Obrenovac, some 30 kilometers from my city, Belgrade.
It is gone now. 80 thousand people are left homeless. It will have to be sanitized once the waters recede, which means that most of the buildings left standing will have to be demolished.

Here is an article from the guardian

I don't know if there are any newer ones.

Sovereign Court

Here is another one
