I got three tickets for PaizoCon 2014. I am wondering if I need to gift the tickets to those that are traveling with me to the convention?

Each of us have Paizo accounts; is moving tickets to those accounts a requirement for the tickets or can I just pick up all three?

It is a requirement to transfer

Digital Products Assistant

You can transfer the tickets to their paizo.com account if they desire to have their own names on the badge (and customize the badge on their E-Tickets page) and pick lottery events when the Event Lottery opens. Either of the two cannot buddy up with you/each other for the Event Lottery if they don't have the ticket on their account.

It is not a requirement to have them transferred, however. If you decide not to gift them, two of the tickets will have a blank where the name can be written in and a line "Badge # for Your Name" will be underneath it in the usual alias spot.

We no longer make this a requirement, though when we started PaizoCon, this was the case.

Though not expressly indicated, I did assume they were interested in participating in the Lottery. Who wouldn't? And thus...

My bad,

You're right about the lottery. If you want to have each ticket participate in the lottery, you have to transfer them to individual attendees account. I'm always surprised though at the number of people that don't do the lottery.

Itty-bitty thread hijack: when do you expect to post the schedule for the lottery events? If you're not sure, or are reluctant to give a date at this point, can you remind me when last year's schedule was posted?

I will be attending again with my son (see, there was a connection to this thread...) and we like to pick events together - for various schedule reasons, there will be some times this spring that will be hard to do, so I'm trying to anticipate things.

FWIW I have an email from last year with Subject "PaizoCon 2013 Event Lottery Signup Reminder!" dated 6/10/13. This email, I do not believe was the first email (but it could have been). It also coincides with THIS thread post also dated 6/10/13.

I did also find this:
Event lottery signup began Jun 4, 2013, 05:00 PM
Event lottery signup closed Jun 11, 2013, 05:00 PM
Open event signup began Jun 14, 2013, 05:00 PM
Open event signup closed Jun 20, 2013, 05:00 PM
Event trading began Jun 14, 2013, 05:00 PM
Event trading closed Jun 20, 2013, 05:00 PM

I'm going to take a leap it will be sometime early June, approximately a month out before the con when we will see a schedule and then shortly after the release when you can submit.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Last year was a bit crazy and I'm working very hard to strangle wrangle cats and get ducks in a row in a more organized fashion. We've missed some of my hoped for time frames on some stuff but we're catching back up and honestly, we are in a much better position this year for staying organized and efficient.
