the problem being that those are not high level skills, but low level ones. familiars/companions/metamorphic are all base, or near base, skills. I think somewhere Ryan said it could be possible to be level 6 in a day, 8 in a week, 12 in a month, 16 in a year, maxed in 2.5years (casts summon Nihimon I).
I think you're combining the statement that the kinds of adventures will be those of regional or national significance, the kinds that Tabletop character have al levels 8-12, and that it will take 2.5 years or so to fully train in one role.
There have been no statements in my recollection that talk about PFO Character Level. Because that doesn't exist.

Here's the reference: Are you experienced?. (Under "Playing Catch-Up")
Level - Time
3 ----> 1 day
8 ----> 1 month
16 ---> 1 year
20 ---> 2.5 years
Now, what they mean by a level in a class is unclear. As far as I understand a "class" is just a collection of skills. It almost sounds like that collection of skills has a specific skill in it which is named after the class. Ie. the "fighter" collection of skills has a Fighter skill. Not sure what it does though.

Ryan has certainly suggested we shouldn't think in terms of Classes and Levels:
There are no class levels in Pathfinder Online. Because there are no classes.
In addition, I don't recall Ryan ever suggesting any time frames for hitting specific milestones other than approximately two and a half years to hit the cap of a specific Role. Even that might not still be relevant, though. I think that was there at the beginning when they were thinking of "Capstones", but now that there's (probably) no Capstone, there's no real reason to think in terms of being "20th Level".
[Edit] Thanks, Nightdrifter. That's obviously the source being referenced. I think when I read that I attached a lot of significance to the word "may", and took them as simple examples of the fact that it was a curve, rather than a description of the actual curve.

As I'm keen to play a witch/druid for character 1, and a paladin for character 2, implementing more of the core and base classes is obviously on my wish list.
I'd also be interested to see how clerical domains are going to work, notably Animal Domain which gives an Animal Companion at 4th in PnP. With the current absence of druid the Animal and Plant Domain cleric is obviously an option for me to look at.
All in time, I guess. Make sure the base game is working and then start dripping in the extras.
Your witch/druid character could make a fine addition to the Viridian Circle Though both of your classes and there skills won't be available on day one, so you'll need to play something different in the meantime.

The subject of Prestige Classes has been raised before but has not, as far as I am aware, really had an official answer.
Obviously, without a PnP-style class system, the term 'Prestige Class' is a little redundant, but the abilities and powers available to many Prestige Classes are useful to broader character concepts.
As an example, I want something along the lines of the Shadowdancer's ability to Hide in Plain Sight, the ability to fade from notice (very Granny Weatherwax for Pratchett fans). I dare say other such abilities appeal to other players for their own concepts.
I assume that any Prestige Classes and their abilities would be post-EE, and possibly post-OE (the basics are more important), but do GW have plans to introduce Prestige Class-style abilities to the game? I would even be prepared to pay to unlock such advanced powers, and I dare say plenty of others would as well. Prestige Classes make an interesting twist to character concepts but are not required to build a powerful PC, thus making them an attractive luxury rather than a basic element of the game.
What are the classes or "roles" confirmed for Early Enrollment and Open Enrollment?

For Open Enrollment, I believe the plan is still to make completing all the Races and Roles (Classes) from the Core Rulebook a priority.
We have a very good idea of what kinds of things need to be put on the priority list at the outset:
* All the races in the core rulebook
* All the roles from the core rulebook

I've responded on your recruitment thread.
You're correct that neither Witch nor Druid will be available from EE, but by dipping into Cleric, Wizard and Rogue pools I'll be able to build a solid base onto which the Witch and Druid abilities will be melded. Sure, I'll not get a Devotion Bonus, but I'm too fond of multiclassing for that to be a serious option anyhow.

I also want to play a witch, minus the druid though. :)
