SmiloDan, that's a pretty awesome Archetype.
So a 20th level astral marauder would be able to go 1000ft/day?

Also! I made an Archetype for this :3

Blinkstrike Assassin:

Blinkstrike Assassin

-Hidden Warp(1): The Phase may make stealth checks after using Warp. Even if the Phase has no cover or concealment, he is considered hidden for one round after using this ability (meaning creatures still must make perception checks vs his stealth check to be aware of the Phase). Any creature attacked by the Phase becomes aware of him, including the effects of Impact and Forceful Entry. This ability otherwise functions as Warp.

-Into Shadows(1): The Phase gains a bonus to stealth checks equal to half their Phase level until the end of their next turn after using Warp. This ability replaces Planar Expert. (They do not lose the bonus to the stealth roll they made while benefiting from Into Shadows, so a Phase that remains hidden still gains this bonus on their initial stealth check.)

-Fade (2): The Phase gains the Fade phase art even if he does not meet the prerequisits.

-Sneak Attack (3): The Phase gains the sneak attack ability (see rogue). He deals an extra 1d6 damage at 3rd level, and an additional 1d6 damage for every 4 levels past 3rd (7, 11, 15, 19). If the Phase has Sneak Attack from another class, combine the damage. This ability replaces Rush, and the Phase may not take Rush Phase Arts.

-Hidden Arts (4): The Phase may select Rogue Talents in place of Phase Arts.

-The Blinkstrike Assasssin may not take Rush Phase arts, nor can he take Medium Armor Assault and Heavy Armor Assault.

Ooh, Archetypes...

That line would probably help make Phasic Getaway actually usable before level 5.

It would make it usable period. Since you can't actually travel with your move action in the same turn that you Warp normally.

And yes! Archetypes :3
My next idea is possibly making an archetype that is similar to the Soulknife, in that the Phase uses Phase magic to manifest a distortion blade. That's a ways off though.
We need some archetypes that bring a flavor to Phase that makes it seem like a typical fantasy profession, like how Rogue has Thugs and Investigators.

For names, how about:

  • Shock Trooper (what Havoc Trooper was originally called) which would expand on the high risk high reward style that things like burning rush, and havoc trooper. Whats a medieval phrase for Shock Trooper?
  • I would say Planar Assassin but that's sort of taken.
  • maybe, Planar Expert? would trade most of their Arts for SLAs. Could be played off as a Mage specializing in planar effects.
  • Definitely need something that uses the Distortion and Rift Aura abilities extensively, adding in a few extra abilities each can do, and combining effects. Can you imagine the debuff-y goodness from sickening a Wizard and upping the difficulty on concentration checks?

  • Did you ever post an updated version of the phase arts?

I believe so. Just in case...

    Here' the most up-to-date version

I'm looking at Disrupting Aura, is it intentional that the Aura itself does not force concentration checks?

*Suggests a Phase art "Evasion" for level 4*

You mean the Rift Projection, and Base Aura? Yes.

So, how's that build going, Mr. The Pitt?

A while ago, I too made a teleportation focused class (at the time I thought I was being original haha). It's called the Jumper and while you guys have several very nice looking classes here already, maybe you could find a few ideas you could use.

You too? I guess my second favorite superpower isn't as under-appreciated as I thought. I see from your link that Uncanny Dodge, and Evasion have some precedence as class abilities for teleporters.

It's going nicely. I am slowly building it for my next one shot. It almost feels like a weird magus, but instead of attacks adding wizard damage, it's all about battlefield and terrain control. The aura, I think, is too powerful at first.

The other analogy I might use is a conceptual horizon walker that drags enemies into his weird type terrain or environment. It's developing something that screws with terrain in the middle that's difficult. I think the best balance thus far is either letting the effects scale fast in the middle levels than the movement or vice versa. I think it might be a build where you can choose how to progress each skill. Movement and terrain control effects. I'll post it when it's more developed.

I like where your character is headed, it might almost be second tier for a ton of levels. And that's okay, it's fun when battles can be won and fought in different ways.

Versatility was one of the things I was concerned about, worried the concept itself somewhat pigeon-holed players into only being able to play as nightcrawler, with little else to offer, but the advent of Phase Arts from Iorthol opened a lot of room for ranged builds, battlefield control, etc...

The reason for Rift Aura being the way it is, was that originally, it was the classes only built-in "to hit" bonus. But combining it with Distortion, I do agree it may be too good. One thing I've been thinking about, is taking a cue from the Barbarians Rage Powers, and making Rift Aura abilities, and Distortion mutually exclusive to each other. Of course, if I do that, I should create 2 new categories, Distortion Arts, and Rift Arts. Or would that be overcomplicating things again?

    Decisions...

EDIT: how about uncanny dodge, and a favored terrain type ability that only applies to the Distortion AoE as Arts?

Can I get a bump up in here? Or does the base class seem functional on par with the other classes now? Can I start my next project? I don't want to leave this half-finished.

    Here's an idea:

    Archetype: The Banshee!
Class skill swaps are: Bluff, Escape Artist, replaced with Fly.

Incorporeal Flight: A Banshee can gain the benefits of flight at double their base land speed (Poor maneuverability) for a duration equal to their normal distance they could travel with warp. While travelling this way, the Banshee is considered to have the Incorporeal special quality for all purposes. This replaces warp.

Banshees Insight: The Banshee gains an insight bonus on perception checks equal to 1/3 their level. This replaces Planar Insight.

Negative Energy Affinity: The Banshee gains negative energy affinity as the special quality, but does not gain the Undead type.

Banshee Curse (2): Starting at level two, the Banshee gains access to Banshee Curses they can take in place of standard Phase Arts, losing access to the Burning Rush, Burnout, and Armor Arts. Available curses are as follows:

Doom Tracking: At level 2, a Banshee can hear the heartbeats of those around them, as the Banshee ability of the same name. This replaces the Momentum Warp Arts.

Improved Flight: At level 6 the Banshee's Flight maneuverability increases by one step, and may move an additional 10 ft per day. This Curse may be taken 3 times, the effects stack. This replaces extra warp.

Cursed Grasp: at level 14, 3 times/ day, a Banshee may make a touch attack that deals 1d6 negative energy damage per hit die, this attack can only be used to harm the living, and does not heal undead. This replaces Disruptor.

Cry of the Banshee: At 20th level, once per minute, a Banshee May spend a Full-Round Action to scream ominously. This ability functions as the Wail of a Banshee (Creature), but with a caster level of 20. This replaces Dimensional Slash.

No? Nothing? We're good here? Glad to know.

Woah, I totally forgot about this project *Got caught up in Path of Exile and school*
Yeah I've been meaning to build some samples of this class but have yet to get around to it =x

Welcome back! I've been looking for a chance to playtest it myself, and . Feel free to pop over here for another class I'm working on nowWould love your input there too.
