While making spreadsheet versions of the character sheets, I spotted something I am sure is gonna come up at some point. One of Weapon Master Valeros' power is :
You may use Melee in place of Ranged when using a weapon with the Ranged trait.
So the question is: "Does this check loses the ranged trait and gains the melee one?" Or, in other words, is this still a ranged check or it's now a melee check ? Or maybe it's both ? This is important for stuff like monsters with powers similar to Tsuto's or playing cards like Soldier or Archer.

For the "Determine which die you’re using" action, the rules tell you to add traits from the card to the check; since you play the weapon with the Ranged trait during that action, you add the Ranged trait to the check. Nothing tells you to remove the Ranged trait from the check, and nothing tells you to add the Melee trait to the check.

To add some story to Vic's answers: The idea is that the Weaponmaster Valeros is really good with weapons, including ranged weapons.
When he uses a Longbow, he's not whacking people over the head with it. The basis of the check is still Strength, because that's how Valeros uses weapons, but he doesn't change the weapon itself, so the traits don't change.
Does that make sense?
