New Custom Scenario from a Newbie - "The Apprentice's Dilemma"

Homebrew and House Rules

My husband and I were debating what's appropriate as a reward for a scenario I've just created (I thought it'd be OK to award a Card feat, he thought I'm "Monte Hauling"...)

Let me know 1) if this scenario is "doable" - we ran through it with Kyra & Valeros & found we couldn't defeat the "villian" without extra help (hence the "if no character has Arcane skill, banish a card to make Blessing of Irori the active Blessing - which allowed me to use one of my Blessing of the Gods to add 2 dice to my Intelligence check) and 2) if it would be appropriate to award a Card feat rather than a random item.

Setting:
The Apothecary’s Apprentice has learned there is a mystic inscription in one of the cavern systems nearby, however his master thinks him foolish for believing old wife’s tales. The apprentice knows this is the key to unlocking the secrets of an amazing potion and learning this secret will greatly improve his standing with his Master. He’s begging you to bring back a copy of the inscription.

Locations:
1: Apothecary
1: Treacherous Cave
1: Deeper Dungeons
2: Desecrated Vault
3: Catacombs of Wrath
4: Warrens
5: Nettlemaze
6: Shrine to Lamashtu

Villian: Mystic Inscription
Henchmen: Ancient Skeleton

During the scenario:
If no character has Arcane skill, banish a card to make Blessing of Irori the current active blessing (one time per character for the duration of the scenario)**. If the Mystic Inscription is NOT defeated, immediately face a Wrathful Sinspawn. Once defeated, make another arcane/ intellect check of 5 or a dexterity check of 7 to successfully copy the inscription. If unsuccessful, face a random monster. The next character only needs to complete the inscription check, reduce the check difficulty by 1.

Reward: Each character chooses a boon (not loot) then draws a random card of that type from the box. In addition the apprentice gives each character one random potion.

A little more background: there is rumored to be multiple inscriptions throughout the cavern as well as within the nettlemaze, not all of them are actually the inscription describing the potion we're seeking. (This explains why, if the Mystic Inscription is not defeated, it 'escapes' to another open location.)

** My husband and I also have a disagreement about who can banish a card to bring the Blessing of Irori to the top. He states it should ONLY be the character who's turn it is, I contend that, like a blessing, any character at any location would be able to banish an item to bring that blessing to the top of the deck. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Interesting idea.
Suggestions:
1) Take out all the Blessing of Irori stuff. It's needlessly complicated.
2) Rather than using the Mystic Inscription, create a new card with the rules you actually want. This way, you can have multiple different checks to defeat if you choose. Use a Poison Trap to represent it, until it is encountered.
3) Reward: each player may choose a potion. This is a low level quest and only merits a low value reward.

Best of luck!

I was going to suggest the same reward, but specifically each player can look through the item deck and take any potion they want.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant.
