A more balanced Summoner Arch-type?

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey friends, I just created a more balanced (I think)arch-type for the summoner. It is based off of the Synthesist, and reduces what can be done at one time. It really requires a good spread across the board on ability scores, or else drama enfolds! Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Please be considerate with your criticism. I don't want this to be a summoner is over-powered bla bla bla board.

The Possessed Summoner

This should be in homebrew.

Having said that, it's a nice attempt at what was asked for in the "Possessed class" thread that spawned it. I'm tinkering with a non SLA Summoner, but I wouldn't work with the Synthesist.

* For your purposes though Synthesist works very well thematically, and I like the power/control mechanics, just not sure if they actually work, nor how much of a drag they might be for players.

* I'm hesitant to recommend the DC buffs, as I'm not really a caster-fan, and I'm not sure it works for me with your theme. Others may love it.

FYI: It Came from the Stars by Zombie Sky Press has a cool Symbiote-Synthesist you might use for this too, and I'm working on a Symbiote base class for Forest Guardian Press.

Have you ever read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher? You know of the coins that once you touch, you begin the process of the possession of the demons attached to the coin? That is kind of what I was going for.

It's true that it could be a drag for the player, but if the player really wanted to play a possession type character, then he really will need to have alter egos conflicting. I think this would make for great roleplay.

I think this build would definitely reduce the craziness that some people go into building their summoners, and it would limit how much power they want to use of their eidolon before it takes control of them. This build also reduces the ability of the character to be a full caster and a full melee powerhouse at the same time. They can be one or the other.

I uploaded the wrong file. I added it's level 20 ability to a different save, and forgot to load that one. So it is fixed now, take a look if your interested.
