Which quest in skinsaw breaks the norm?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Kyra and Seoni just completed the 5 scenarios, and i guess i had a part in it too.

I was keeping an eye out for which scenario had a different win condition other than corner the Villain, but it was not really recognizable to me.

The third scenario, Foul Misgivings, seemed to have a slight twist to it, so I assume that was the one.

Any thoughts?

I suspect you're referring to when I said:

Each chapter of the Adventure Path finds some new ways to play with the standards a little. Each contains at least one scenario that plays fast and loose with the typical "seed villains and henchmen into locations, then corner and defeat the villain" concept. But we needed to establish the paradigm for players before we can break it. :-)

Foul Misgivings is indeed the scenario I was thinking of for Chapter 2, as it includes seeded henchmen that you don't really fight and another henchman that's summoned by the haunt mechanic rather than being seeded into a location deck.

For Chapter 1, it's Local Heroes.
For Chapter 3, Here Comes the Flood offers a *really* big twist on the usual paradigm.
In Chapter 4, Sandpoint Under Siege and Under Jorgenfist each have small twists.
In Chapter 5, Rimeskull, Thassilonian Sins, and Into the Runeforge all have twists.
In Chapter 6, it's The Road through Xin-Shalast, Scaling Mhar Massif, and Into the Eye.

I hear a lot of people say that the scenarios seem very similar to one another, but I think this under-appreciates the "twists" that every scenario has that might be a bit more subtle than the more "dramatic" ones Vic just mentioned. The last scenario of Chapter 2, for example, contained a location with traits that made me immediately think: "We should tackle that one last." Then I looked at the scenario card...which described a penalty when there are no characters at that location. Another location for that scenario (I believe the Temple) featured a penalty to move from / to, which discouraged excessive moves to avoid the first scenario penalty, creating a fairly interesting strategic / tactical "puzzle" of sorts to solve. Sure, you were still finding & cornering the villain, but those elements put a slightly different spin on it.

Well, this has me intrigued. I do wonder how you managed to imitate climbing a mountain in this game.

I really liked all the Skinsaw scenarios and I did like the how Foul Misgivings did change it up a bit. Looking forward to the other ones Vic mentioned. It looks like down the line we will see a few scenarios in each pack. Cool.

Looking forward to running my other characters through Skinsaw. I hope the make it.
