But what story opportunity does he really bring to the table in scenario based play where the only real person at the table who might know who/what it is happens to be you?
Most of the time this wouldn't be the case given the people and places I normally roleplay with/at. Character backstories and flavor tend to come out, even if only a little bit, and are part of the game.
That said--everyone has a right to their own opinion and to play their game their own way. I just wanted the author of the scenario and the paizo staff to be aware that there were people who found value in this particular scenarion and chronicle--done.

I'm cool with that, but generally that sort of theme works in a home game where the rest of the crew knows about the sword. In a pick-up group (as PFS often is) the story really needs to be carried by having an arc.
It's an interesting weapon that could certainly be tied into a a few scenarios, it just seems like a missed opportunity at this stage.
