The new Format and AP Capstones / Sequels?

Adventures

Flipping through the new catalog and I saw the new "Campaign Cards" that go along with the adventures and it got me thinking.

They could make these modules the "Book 7" of previous APs. You could bring your characters of out retirement and go for one more adventure. It could set the tone for a High level romp and possible push us up to that mythical 20th level.

They wouldn't have to do one all the time, or even regularly but it would be a neat addition here and there.

i never like the card games... Magic and all generic clones are so bored to me, i prefeer a chess play with some one else.

It's been mooted before. While i think it would make a neat experiment, it kind of cuts down the market - although they could no doubt be played as a standalone, it's no doubt quite rare that the sixth instalment of an AP (for example) is played unless the group is running the AP. I suspect an "episode seven" would be viewed similarly. That perception may well mean very few would buy it who didn't have the prequel AP. given high level modules already sell less than low level ones, it would be a bit of a risk.

We did The Moonscar last year as a capstone for our various APs, specifically to fit at the end of just about all of them. There's a sidebar in the adventure advising on changes to the adventure hook to make it fit better into any of our APs released prior to that point. If we do further capstone modules in the future, they're likely to follow the same format, meaning that they'd be level-appropriate standalone adventures that aren't directly tied to a single AP at the exclusion of all others.

I'll check that one out, thanks.
