Hello I am building a WereBear/Halfling Paladin. Hulk Angry!!! And need some advice on how to build it. I am thinking of sword and board and we are starting at level 8. We roll for stats in my group and I rolled
12
18
15
13
16
15
I am Thinking of putting the 18 in Charisma, 16 Strength, 15 Dexterity, 13 in Wisdom, 15 in Constitution, and 12 in intelligence.
Current feat thoughts
L1: Power Attack
L3: Furious Focus
L5: ?
L7: Vital Strike

I think you should consider just swapping your Str/Cha, since you'll want a bit more Str to offset the penalty.
Also, consider not getting Vital Strike, it's generally not worth spending a Feat on, especially for sword and board since you'd at most get an extra d8 out of it.
Also also, consider being a Barbarian with natural attacks because nothing conjures a funnier image than the midget bear frothing at the mouth, screaming "Rip and tear!" as he lays into enemies with his claws and bites.

I already have natural attacks in my hybrid form. a bite and 2 claws. and it is a Move action to switch forms. also my forms goes from small to large when i switch to hybrid or animal. but a barbarian is defiantly and idea. Still need one more feat if i go 2H barbarian and I was thinking for the pally option to place both 4th and 8th Ability upgrades in strength to combat that.

That's complete crap anyways:
DM "You get bitten by a werebear and contract lycanthropy."
Player "No thanks, I'm too small to be a werebear."That's almost as bad as just saying "I disbelieve."
I wasn't bitten by that werewolf! It was all just an illusion!
It makes sense in that it tries to keep someone from turning into a were Colossal Giant Squid. I had a player try that once. Your of course free to house rule otherwise, and many creatures have several variants/sizes/similar analogues. Personally, I don't see many small races at my table.

I'm confused here. Paladins are immune to supernatural diseases. You can't be a lycanthrope paladin. Well, I guess you can, but your god would instantly cure you of it when you hit level 3.
Well, I guess if you're a natural lycanthrope it'd be fine, but natural lycanthropes have like 5 extra DR and complete control over their transformations so your DM would have to be insane to let you do that...(quite possible)

We were just looking at this, my DM and I, since a character in our group was just bitten by a were-rat and failed her save. She's a Paladin 4, so she is immune to diseases, but Lycanthropy seems to be classified as a curse, not a disease. Anyone know what's the ruling on this?

The Shaman |

Haven´t seen any. Paladins are immune to mummy rot, which is a disease and a curse, but lycanthropy is only a curse. The DM is fully within his limits to extend this resistance to lycanthropy too... otherwise your paladin may have a serious problem. Unlike a natural lycanthrope, she can´t control herself during that time, which can be a problem.
On the other hand, if it comes to that, do note she is NOT willingly committing any evil acts while in that form, so while it would likely require some atonement, she should not fall on the spot (unless the DM and players want her to).

Barbarian is a better fit, you wil also gain Pounce at lvl 10. And you can add more Natural attacks later with spells and magic items. You could do something like this:
Human/Werebear Scarred Rager barbarian 5
Alternate racial trait: Heart of the Fields, Favored class bonus every time
Traits: Dangerously Curious, Optimistic Gambler
Stats (before modifiers, as rolled): Str 18, Dex 15, Con 16, Int 12, Wis 13, Cha 15
1. Racial Heritage (kobold), Tail Terror
2. Rage Power: Superstition
3. Power Attack
4. Rage Power: Lesser Beast Totem
5. Raging Vitality
You should progress the beast totem rage powers so that you eventually gain pounce. Reckless Abandon and Come and Get Me are a must. Another option is to take via the kobold feats a breath weapon and then be eligible for the powerful Noxious Bite feat. Improved Sunder combos well with the Spell Sunder rage power. Take Cornugon Smash and maybe Dreadful Carnage for Intimidation effects when you can. Later on you can buy a wand of monstrous extremities, a tentacle cloak and a helm of the mammoth lord for even more natural attacks.

It'a not.
Natural Lycanthropy shouldn't be a disease or a curse, merely genetics. If you are going to be a Paladin, consider never biting anything that can contract lycanthropy. If they want to became lycanthropes, spend the time before hand asking for your diety's consent on the matter, and time after the bite keeping them under control until they have control themselves.
Toughness, Dodge, Improved Initiative, and Improved Natural Attck(claws) are good feat choices for your character.

1 of them is great, their thematic yes, but as far as good feats go dodge and improved natural attack aren't really that amazing. Toughness is okay, but usually you can nab something better.

OP said they want feedback on rolling up a paladin. Why are people saying to roll a barbarian instead? How is that helpful?
OP also said that he likes the Barbarian idea.
Anyway for a paladin build, consider Fey Foundling at first lvl and the Oath of Vengeance archetype together with a bunch of Extra Lay on Hands feats. A one lvl dip in Lore Oracle for Cha to AC is also a great possibility.

I actually contracted lycanthropy tonight from a weretiger...Im totally pumped about it though because the stat boosts are AWESOME.
It will not go well with Paladin then. You know that if you don't get rid of it you will eventually lose control and kill some folks... which in turn means that you are comfortable with killing innocent in order to maintain your power. This is certainly an evil approach. Antipaladin would suit better. And there is always the Barbarian.
