Also, do you like weird mashup hybrid fey like "pollinators", or are they too silly for most games?
| Selene Spires |
(My head canon is that Pathfinder hags and norns (and possibly lamias) are offshoots of the same ancient root fey race/ancestry. The hags are emigrants/exiles who left because they became corrupted, or that they were corrupted by the trauma of losing their connection to The First World & the unforgiving requirements of survival on the Prime Material.)
Hags are based on Germanic/Slavic and Irish/Scottish real-world myths. Do you think a new "desert hag" would work thematically in places like Thuvia, Osirion, Qadira, Geb, etc with it being so far geographically removed from the areas of Golarion influenced by Germanic/Slavic and Irish/Scottish folklore?
Do you have your ideas about new hag types and/or lore?
I think it can work as most cultures seem to have the 'Evil Twisted Old Woman' myths...like dragons, vampires, and shape changers.
Mmm....I will Ferrell back to this but I was thinking of a reformed hag...

No I don't...actually including fantastic fauna and flora to world like that adds to the world.

What would be a good "name" for the male version of a hag?| Ambrosia Slaad |

I see. {scribbles down "Hags need More Cowbell"} :)

Yeah, that's probably the core issue I have with how hags (and lamias) are depicted, which is why I hadn't bothered to do anything lorewise for male hags. But... now that I think about it for a bit, I'd modify the ogre magi* into a "Kostchtchie spawn". Rebuild them into something a more trollish with more bits of lore from Koschei to give them a deeper Russian/Slavic feel. And have them stained/cursed by Kostchtchie's hatred (and deep fear) of women, witches, and Baba Yaga -- they have the same chances to be good vs evil as changelings, but they could feel an uneasiness/superstition/fear in their being, even if they don't understand it. Perhaps the corruption that turned the fey progenitors into hags still lingers in their blood, so that hags primarily birth changelings but occasionally a male Kostchtchie spawn is born? Hags, while corrupted and twisted, would still feel a strong maternal bond to their male babies and (in a parallel to changeling daughters) secretly swap them with regular male ogre or troll babies.
I dunno, that's just off the top of my head.
Edit: * No, not ogre magi, I'd reflavor and tweak the mechanics for a new 0-HD male player race based on the half-giant from 3.x and Dreamscarred's psionics. Replace their Fire Acclimated ability for cold-related stuff; and replace stomp (sp), Naturally Psionic, and Psionic Aptitude with abilities/traits more versatile & fitting for the lore.

I think the Hag was not as much sexist as it was of people's fear of old people. 'Evil Twisted Old Man' myths existed as well...I just can't think of any right now.

I would have gone the other direction, and have the Hag kill and eat any male children (hence the extreme rarity of male changelings).
At first I called them Crones, but then I realized that was still gendered.
What about Gaunt?
There are the Hagspawn from page 12 of the Forgotten Realms supplement, The Unapproachable East.
Now, for PF 1st Edtion, I could do stats. Not so much for the 2nd. :( … and no one cares about 1st edition anymore.

Of course, the Hagspawn of the Forgotten Realms were not terribly attractive.

I considered that, but I thought it'd be more interesting if some small non-evil portion of the hag would still be capable of love. A twisted version of love to be sure, but love none the less. They seem to have some form of love for their female children, even considering the horrible things they put them through, so why not the male/non-female children too? Many apex predators in the animal kingdom are ruthless to their prey but still devoted parents. And one of my peeves is evil beings who are entirely evil (as well as good beings who are completely purely good); it makes them duller (IMO), and I like complexities in opponents.
I thought male changelings who were like their female counterparts is also a bit lazy, a bit too easy way for me to go. If changelings are an echo of the magic-steeped, physically & psychologically enchanting fey ancestors of hags, what would male hagspawn be an echo of/throwback to? Which cycled me back to Kostchtchie spawn and maybe ogre-ish, troll-ish echos of what Kostchtchie was. But then that seemed unfair to them, that I was already trying to pidgeonhole them into an evil/non-good role. Kostchtchie hates women and Baga Yaga, the ur-hag, so maybe male hagspawn should be the opposite of changelings: Jotunbrud/half-giants who excel at being rangers and barbarians, who have a subconscious compulsion to thwart/destroy witches and hags, with the abilities to be good at it. The idea of Baba Yaga's and Kostchtchie's mortal progeny locked in a cycle of opposition to each other without understanding why seemed satisfyingly tragic and a good narrative framework for game hooks, with both sides being neither evil or righteous.
And that mostly works for me personally. It seems obvious to me now that of course there should still be male changelings and female jotunbrud/half-giant/hagspawn too, just uncommon or rare-ish. And jotunbrud arcanists should be as viable as changeling warriors. And there should be equal opportunities (and storyhooks) for members of either ancestry to herbally/alchemically/magically jump to the other side of the gender fence, or opt out entirely.

I think you're being a bit premature to write off interest in PF1E (Pathfinder Classic). There are many things I like about PF2E, but right now there are still many things I can't satisfyingly do within it, and I can't be the only one. I'd at least wait until the PF2E APG rolls out to see what is in store for PF2E's future.
Lord Fyre (and Selene), have you considered maybe contacting 3PPs with some of your PF1E stuff? Or seeking a wider audience?

I remember reading about Baba Yaga's children being either completely beautiful or completely ugly..,there was not any middle ground. So I would allow either..,or if you want both...( one side completely handsome....the other completely horrible).

I still care...and after a while more interest will be shown in Classic Pathfinder. Right now though ir is new and shiny and people are not noricing the warts.,,

Agreed..,though I think there are more design flaws and design traps(meaning Backgrounds are problematic to expand on because eventually they will just all blend together) in the system...
But I want to see want they do this year,
As to ever getting stuff published...while I am great at the creative and ideas part...I am terrible at the technical part of writing...So I am sadly probably not publishable... :(

Dear Selene,
Do you have any suggestions on how I could rob like 5 or 6 billionares so I can get 50 billion dollars in under a week? (asking for a friend...)
Well rich people tend to be with rich people ( actually people generally tend to seek out there own social strata...)
So it should be easy to get them all together...when they are hack their phones...access their bank accounts and transfer their money...
I would probably use a delayed programming so it happens at different times during that week...just to cover my tracks better.

The friend is me.
Step 1: Break into his house...
Step 2: Give some tasty meat on a bone to his dog...
Step 3:....
Wait why am I telling a gremlins this!?!?!?
So he'll set off the traps first.

Oh... er, no. I meant how I could "rob Thomas" as in be the lead singer of a band like Matchbox Twenty.
Just a silly misunderstanding. Ha ha ha. Ha. Um. {kicks bag of burglary tools behind sofa}

I dunno why people are telling the Pug to rob me. Or Rob Thomas. (Who is also a producer I think for some TV shows...)
Also Selene is correct. I'm not a rogue. I just rely on my dog who barks all the time.
I don't know. With the pugwampi unluck aura, I would recommend also having a second line of defense.

Geez, are you still complaining about that?! Look, that harness's instructions said nothing -- nothing! -- about attaching a rope before I kicked you from lowered you gently from the shaft. And what was the problem? You didn't even splat! You bounced like 5 foot up off the fan's blade like a Simone Biles off a springboard, except screaming from terror & pain. You should be grateful Hubert was kicked out first volunteered to go first and jammed up the fan blades with his bones and tendons.
...and stop humming the theme to Mission: Impossible!
Well, I'm not going to reenact scenes from Eyes Wide Shut or Far and Away. I have standards.

Well don't you have billions of dollars now?
Also you need my patented Pugwumpus Deterent System version 2.1...which my motion detector guided weapon system. There is nothing involved that their bad luck aura can effect.
