Waiting to see Thomas' and Ylera's before adjudicating Charlotte's

Thomas take a step back, takes out a bit of powered silver and makes a circle.
Casts Magic Circle Against Evil using inspired spell.
Every one in 10-ft of me gets +2 deflection bonus to AC and +2 on all saves.

Ylera first commands her ally to attack.

The archon hovers just above the beasts reach sujecting to it's aura of menace as it approaches.

Two Light Ray touch attacks.

Ylera spends a mythic point to cast a Lightning Bolt at the creature after positioning herself to make sure no one else gets struck.

Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3) = 19 electrick Reflex Save DC 18

Sorry for the belated post...I was in a car accident and I've been dealing with all the associated phone calls and such.

Reflex 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

The Archon's first ray of light aims wide, but the second takes the Xill in the chest, while Ylera's lightning bolt, crackling with blazing power, rocks the beast.

Thomas' circle flashes in completion, but is ultimately unneeded as Charlotte steps in with a diagonal slash that cuts the monster in half from upper left to bottom right. Her second flick of the blade removing the head from the body as the two sections of body fall away from each other.


Kneeling, Charlotte retrieves the Xill's head from where it has fallen.

Nice and easy. Time to collect our bounty, then I have a date with the pub.


Hakka frowns as he examines the corpse. "Not yet...we should check the servant's quarters to be sure that we exterminated all the Xill. This may not have been the same one I saw earlier. If they have gotten to the servants, we might have a much larger problem."

Almost as if by Fate, as soon as Hakka finishes his sentence you hear another shrill chittering, sounding much the same as what came from the now dead Xill. The sound comes from inside the servant's house.


I really should stop giving the GM ideas...XD

Hakka growls as he starts toward the servant's house. "Damn, I hate being right!"

Remember, you all are still under the effects of Mythic Bless. It doesn't effect an initiative roll, however.

Charlotte sighs, following along behind Hakka.

So much for an easy paycheck. We might as well take care of this before any more bugs manage to breed.

The door to the servant's house is located on the side you are facing, the door faces the walking path to the main house. There are 8 windows on that side, 2 on either side of the door and 4 across the upper level.


What do you think Hakka. In through the front door or try to get creative?

Tom tries to see if he can spot anything through the windows from were the patry is standing.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23


Hakka looks up at the windows around the servant's house. "Well...with the windows present, they will see us if we go around the back. So, let's go ahead and present ourselves." Hakka walks forward, carefully checking to not step on a trip line or something similarly dangerous before reaching the door. He raises his hand, balls it into a fist, and knocks on the door.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28

Before Hakka's actions...

Thomas:
You don't see much inside the windows. The sun reflects somewhat off the glass making it difficult to see inside, but you catch movement from something in the bottom left hand window. The rooms inside, that you can see, all look to be dormitories of sorts.

We'll wait for Thomas' reaction before I resolve the Bardic knock :).

I think I saw some movement on the bottom left over there, but I can't tell what it is.


Alright, I would stop part-way up the path and direct my vision toward the window indicated by Thomas and see if I can see what he saw. Want me to roll a new perception check, or just use the last one?


Warned by Thomas, Charlotte takes a more careful look at the building.

You don't notice anything more in the room, except that it is darker than normal on the inside...

Charlotte inspects the building thoroughly with her eyes, but there is nothing out of the ordinary on the outside. No sounds come from the inside which is odd if Thomas saw some movement...the walls don't look THAT thick.


Well, since I don't see anything...Bardic Knock? Unless someone says something.


Might as well. The alternative is looking for a back door. I assume we've been seen since we walked across an open courtyard.

Mhm. Politeness: The one things the monsters never expect. I do have my scimitar drawn. Knocking on the door with my other arm.

You knock on the door and wait for whatever surprises open the door...

But nothing happens.


Hakka laughs. "Indeed! If our product fails to keep you alive, we'll refund your money!" With no one answering the door, Hakka tries to open it.

The door opens easily and inside is oddly dark.

Do any of you have darkvision or similar?


Low-Light vision at the moment. If the interior is in total darkness I'll have to exspend resources.

Seeing the ominous darkness shrouding the buildings interior, Charlotte chants a breif incantation, her form twisting and shrinking as she does so. After a few seconds, a female goblin stands in her place.

Charlotte:
You see a hallway that is plainly adorned. The wood is finished but not flashy. Sturdy and utilitarian construction is the sense you get from this, someone who built this place was looking at making a bigger up front expenditure but obviously doesn't want to spend more money on the place. There are four doors, two to a side of the hallway. A small table is outside each doorway with a candle burning, but strangely shedding no light.

The hallway is 10' across and 40' in length.

A stairway leading up is at the far back of the hallway on the right hand side, and a doorway is at the far end.


Suspecting magic is in play to supress the light, Charlotte relays the information regarding the layout of the building before casting detect magic.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

I'm specifcally looking for the point of origin for the magic, if I can find it.

You detect a faint aura of evocation...a dark evocation...in the hallway. There are multiple points of aura, on either side of the hallway.

You think the candles are the source.


Half Orcs possess darkvision.

Hakka, feel free to read Charlotte's spoiler concerning darkvision. Sorry, completely forgot about Half-Orc's ability...for some reason I had it in my head as low-light vision.

Also, sorry for some of my slowed posting...I've been reviewing the Top 32 archetypes and it has taken a large chunk of my time. I'm done now so we should be getting back into the swing!


Hakka examines the hallway carefully. "Clever. Shall we remove them, bring a little light in?"

Perception Check for traps: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Is it possible to tell if these are magic items, or if the darkness came from a spell?

Hakka sees no traps, but turns to the goblinoid adjacent to him. "Have the candles had spells cast upon them, or are they magical items?"


Reaching out with her mind, Charlotte grabs one of the candles and brings it to her outstretched hand.

The candle shakes wobbily for a moment and then rises up to float gently to Charlotte's hand.

As the candle flame is snuffed out, the darkness spreading out from it immediately ceases. However, an unnatural darkness still permeates the hallway. Three more candles remain on the remaining tables.
