1 and 2. Since the red and blue books in the early eighties. Don't remember the exact year.
3. PF, Star Wars d6 version, Dark heresy
4. If I recall correctly, a cleric that died within about 20 minutes of starting play from a rock falling on him.
5. Sadly no.
6. Bored at work (don't tell my boss) or I have a question that I could use some help with.

AtomicGamer |

1. Since around 2000
2. Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition. (except for AD&D 2nd ed. as part of playing Baldur's Gate on the computer)
3. Starwars Saga Edition, Vampire: The Requiem, Pathfinder
4. Killed in a blast from Staff of the Magi being broken, as he fought to contain some of his former party members who had turned evil and were taking slaves to one of the 9 Hells via gateway.
5. Yes, one (other) member still remains, though he isn't in all of my games.
Bonus question: Because I'm getting into Pathfinder and I like to get a good working knowledge of the system, some insights into the dangers and the pitfalls, etc.

Marthian |

1. Pathfinder: A year; Video Games: Since I was 5 (I'm 18 now)
2. Pathfinder
3. Pathfinder, Shadowrun, DnD 3.0/3.5
4. Still alive
5. I've never been in a PF home group. My shadowrun game was supposed to be rescheduled, but haven't heard since.
6. Great community, lots of humorous posts. Great staff at Paizo too.

Hi all just a quick survey about the type of gamers who are on this forum
1. How long have you been gaming
Got my gaming roots in 1st grade, when a rivalry grew between myself and a classmate regarding who could get the highest score on Sneakers on the old Apple IIe computers the school had. Eventually the teacher even devoted a corner of the chalkboard to the current leader and their score. When we stayed in at recess due to rain, my rival and I would be side by side at the two computers, with the class (and teacher) behind us watching.
If you mean RPGs, I cut my teeth on EarthBound for the SNES. That has had a profound impact on my roleplaying.
If you mean tabletop RPGs, I was introduced via a heavily houseruled 3.5 game that didn't last long and didn't make much sense. But it got me and my nerdy friends curious enough to try 4E when it came out. Played it a little while until I found myself without a group (first due to moving, then due to my GM becoming a father). Started an unintentional hiatus until I discovered the local PFS chapter about a year and a half ago, and I've been happily Pathfinding ever since.
2. First game system you played
See above. It all started with the Apple IIe, but tabletop RPGs started with a weird thing that called itself 3.5 but started in earnest with 4E.
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
Gonna have to drop that to two: SNES and Pathfinder. ;)
4. Fate of your first character
Don't even remember. Most of the party gained like 11 levels off some magical doodad or other, so I just sort of tagged along at level 3 or so.
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
Nope, livin' in a different state now.
And finally why do you visit these forums
Thanks all
First it was to learn the system better. Then it was also to pass knowledge on to others. Then it was also to get involved in the PFS community and its goings-on. It's also fun to talk. :)

1- 25 years
2- 1st read and hooked : Empire Galactique (French Space Opera RPG), 1st played : DnD (French Red Box)
3- WoD 1, Rolemaster, PFRPG
4- Never ended the campaign and promptly forgotten in favor of the next one. A fate that repeats itself often, as I did not play that often but moved around a lot. I still remember his class (Thief) and his name. My PFS character is a remake/homage to that first hero of mine.
5 - Heck, no. It was 25 years ago and 6 000 kms away and lasted only a few months.
6 - Addiction/Passion. I cannot tell the difference really.

1. Started in 1974, but had a couple of multi-year gaps. So say around 35 years, give or take.
2. D&D 1st edition. (The three-book set.)
3. Runequest, 2nd edition (1978)
Pathfinder
Champions (the one from the early 1990's -- I'm sure it's been revised)
4. The first one I remember was a halfling thief who was trying to rob a crypt at night, ran into a wraith, and became a wraith himself.
5. No; though one of them still does live locally.

I started visiting the forums to get advice from more experienced Pathfinderers. I found that the AP threads are extremely welcoming, with a small group of GMs discussing the vagaries of the AP, so I check those daily. The other threads are less fun, but occasionally I'll post to/read the Rules or Advice threads for some clarifications on something I've done (or am planning to do). Or just to get into self-righteous arguments about paladins.

1. Started in what... 1982? Gaming since redbox D&D. Went up through goldbox and then switched to 2nd ed AD&D. Heroes Unlimited, Rifts. Long hiatus when all the gamers moved away. New group has done a 2nd ed, d20 future, 3.5, heroes unlimited, Palladium's Dead Rising, and we're now running a pathfinder and warhammer 1st ed game.
2. First game was actually gamma world, but i didn't realize it was an rpg at the time. Only thing i remember about it was maps and traps...3. AD&D 2e, Heroes unlimited/ninjas and superspies, trying very hard to make pathfinder number 3...
4. Have no recollection of the gamma world character, my first redbox character was a cleric, who travelling the wilderness by himself died very quickly. I never played a cleric again.
5. Nope. Only one of them left in town and he was always more of an antagonist than a gamer anyway...
6. Trying to capture the sense of community that my hobby is supposed to entail, share experiences and opinions...

1. How long have you been gaming
Let's see - played table top RPGs very regularly from 1983-1991, very rarely for a couple of years after that, then stopped. Just came back less than a year and a half ago, playing a LOT since then.
2. First game system you played
Started with the D&D red box Basic Set (single rulebook version, not the later one with separate player and DM books) in 1983.
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
Pathfinder, 1st edition AD&D, and Shadowrun
4. Fate of your first character
Retired at way too high a level, I think.
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
Nope.
And finally why do you visit these forums
I'm a Pathfinder junkie.
Also, my job revolves around sitting in front of a computer, frequently waiting for large programs to run. So I jump on the web during those breaks in my work, including this site.

1. How long have you been gaming
Since September of 1985.
2. First game system you played
AD&D 1e
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
Pathfinder, DC Heroes (the old Mayfair version), and AD&D 1e
4. Fate of your first character
Died after being tricked into saying a forbidden word.
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
No, sadly. I only know the whereabouts of a couple of them, and they no longer play. I have, though, had mostly the same group of players for over 25 years now.
And finally why do you visit these forums?
This is where all the cool kids hang out.

If you guys continue to make me the oldest gamer out here by nearly a decade I'm going to get depressed... though I could claim that I started my first 'regular' game in 1976 just to save a couple years' face. (First game was when my best friend's father introduced us to a 'brand new kind of game'. Started a campaign two years later...)

1. Since 1979, so for 33 years.
2. D&D Basic Set.
3. That one's tough: different systems work better for different genres. For the genres I play, my faves are:
-- Fantasy: PFRPG / D&D 3.5.
-- Modern-day/normal tech/psi abilities/sci-fi: GURPS.
-- Supers: Champions/HERO system.
-- Horror: Call of Cthulhu.
4. Fate of my first character? No idea. Probably killed by an orc. Or an owl bear. Or green slime. Or a gelatinous cube. Back in those days, you often went through two or three characters in a game session!
5. No. I have no contact with any of my friends from sixth grade. I moved out of my old home town 25 years ago, and live several states away now. However, there are two players in my current group that I've been gaming with since college-- and I've been out of college for 20 years. (And now I feel old.)
6. The Paizo forums are a great place to steal ideas for my campaign. It's also a fun place to waste time chatting about my favorite hobby!

4. Died horribly at the hands of Orcus!
5. Yes, there is one person from my original group that I still game with...

1 & 2 D&D the original blue box and red box way back when
3. D&D (most versions), GURPS, Champions (3rd or 4th ED)4. Can't remember. I've played so many games (Star Wars, Star Trek, GURPS, Paranoia, Rolemaster, Twerps, to name a few) that I lost track of what characters have lived and died.
5. Probably a bad question for old-timers like me. I remember playing AD&D 1st ED in High School during lunch and that was back in '85. Original D&D was before then. All those people I knew back then have moved on and gotten married. Even though I am in contact with some friends via Facebook none of the old Game friends are on there.
Missed the last part: Why am I here? It is a Forum that attracts people with similar interests. I go to a Trek Forum for the same reason.
Pathfinder also has this thing about being vague and this is usually a good place to look for answers :)

1) Since either 1989 or 1990, I sadly can't remember the exact beginning.
2) M.E.R.P.3) In no particular order, since it depends on what type of game I want to run: Pathfinder, Alternity, UNIsystem
4) Squished by a troll during the first session.
5) Yes. My first group was a bunch of 'irregulars', not a set group. Two players stayed around to form 'my' group one or two years later, for around eight years, that is two years after school ended. For a few years now I regularly play with a guy who was part of that first 'band of irregulars'. My main group has played together for more or less 13 years now.

I come to the forums mostly to monitor peoples progress through the newest AP's so that I can learn from their feedback which areas of the modules may need a little work, where the typos are & where the potential TPK's are laying in wait. In short, I come here to prepare Adventure Paths for use by my players.

1. How long have you been gaming
For dice-based gaming, started with Neverwinter Nights in Summer 2003. Was introduced to 3.5 tabletop that fall, then picked up again after a hiatus a few years after. Switched to PF when it came out.
Prior to that, I grew up with an NES and the early Mario games until I was 5 (27 now), then purchased my own SNES in 1995 (first major purchase I ever made with my own saved money!). A friend loaned me Chrono Trigger back in I wanna say 1998; got Final Fantasy Adventure and Pokemon Red for the GameBoy the same year for Xmas. Hooked on RPGs ever since.
2. First game system you played
D&D 3.5
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
Pathfinder
D&D 3.5
Mutants and Masterminds (Only played a few sessions of that that and two sessions of a WoD Vampire/Mage game outside PF/3E).
4. Fate of your first character
Zilvanus Runihura (CN Half-Drow Hexblade) was last seen fishing in a small village on a post-apocalyptic world. Campaign ended abruptly before we moved on or found the next quest/dungeon/whatever.
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
One of them, yes.
And finally why do you visit these forums
Friends in FAWTL, AP information and discussion (running Kingmaker now, ran Savage Tide partially in the past, going to run a Savage Tide/Serpent's Skull mashup in the future), posting Campaign Journals, and getting some gaming ideas, plot suggestions, and homebrew stuff.

'89-ish, I guess... 2ed AD&D was fresh out of the presses!

Rolemaster
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
In no particular order, d20 system in its multiple iterations, roll and keep (especially 7th Sea's "dramatic feel"), Cubicle 7's The One Ring
4. Fate of your first character
Killed by hill giant (random encounter) on the way back from main quest, protecting loot :(
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
Unfortunately not. That group was awesome. I'd go back with them anytime!
And finally why do you visit these forums
Lots of good and fresh ideas. Forums are relatively civil and open-minded.

1. How long have you been gaming
My first time was maybe four years ago, then I couldn't for a long time. I've only been gaming again actively for about 2 years now.
2. First game system you played
D&D 3.5. I was fascinate with Mage: The Ascension in high school, but I never actually got to play it. :(
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Eclipse Phase (only theoretically; again, I've never gotten to actually play it)
4. Fate of your first character
I had two firsts: Doris Screaming-Arrow, Catfolk archer, specializing in extreme range; and Jiminy Cricket, extremely self-righteous Halfling Rogue/Cleric -- both currently and permanently halfway through the Temple of Elemental Evil.
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
Yes! My first group was just me and my two brothers, with my older brother GMing and me and my younger brother each playing two characters. Nowadays, I'm the GM, and since we've added my wife to the group everybody has just one character.
And finally why do you visit these forums
Because this is a wonderful online community, full of insight, friendly support, and enthusiasm. And it's a lot more fun at work than working. :)

1. About 18 years.
2. A very brief Palladium game. Fought and killed a single scarecrow.
3. Old World of Darkness (storyteller), Pathfinder, Buffy/Angel (unisystem)
4. None of the games I was in lasted long enough for a character to have any kind of "fate" until I got a steady group together in college.
5. I don't even talk to any of my original group. Have one of them on facebook, but would not want game with them now.
I visit to read about what people have to say, contribute when I can, and sometimes be entertained.

Hi all just a quick survey about the type of gamers who are on this forum
1. How long have you been gaming
2. First game system you played
3. What are your 3 favorite systems
4. Fate of your first character
5. Do you still game with any of your original group
And finally why do you visit these forums
Thanks all
1- about 20 years.
2- AD&D 2nd Edition.3- d20/3.5e/Pathfinder , Cyberpunk , Star Wars
4- She was executed for assassinating the prince she was trying to protect. Long story made short she was sent in as an assassin to kill the prince... but after successfully infiltrating his harem and spending time with him, she discovered he was a great guy and instead tried to protect him from her former employers all while staying under cover. Not easy to do and eventually her old employers found out and leaked who she was to the prince's guards. To make matters worse they had a second assassin poison the prince when I was arrested and make it look like I had done it.
5- Nope most of the people I started gaming with don't play RPGs anymore.
6- I visit the forums to interact with people outside my little group.
