I think you mean to say 75th, not 76th. And the regimental motto is "Sua Sponte", not RLTW.
Just to clarify, I'm not debating with you, just clearing some things up.
Ranger School, where one earns the tab, does not make one a 'Ranger'. It makes you 'Ranger Qualified'. Being in the 75th AND earning your tab in addition to the regimental scroll makes you a Ranger. There's a huge difference. While there were "ranger schools" during Vietnam, there was no "ranger regiment". There were "ranger companies" that fell under the 75th Infantry Regiment. After the war was when Big Army decided to create an actual battallion.
So, were there 'rangers' in Vietnam? Sure. Was there a ranger regiment? No, not really.
If I missed a key, it's because it's 4 am here. :) I fully will stipulate that my typing isn't the best at the best of times.
As for the motto. I was speaking of the over all motto of the Rangers.
And as point of reference he claimed there was no ranger school, and no rangers at all, and even said it must be an imaginary world with Rangers being 'nonexistant' during the Vietnam era.
He was wrong on many levels in many ways.
