Hello there,
Im making a ranger who is a hunter of extraordinary beasts.
I want him to have an ultimate prize, like a very rare and hard to catch beast.
Any ideas of what that could be? He's level 7 and i will be playing til around lvl 14.
Furthermore i picked Magical beast as first favoured, what should be the second, what types make good triphies?
Best regards

My barbarian in PFS had a life goal of slaying a dragon, just because it's the ultimate iconic monster. By the time he retired at level 13, he had actually helped kill four of them. I had him keep and stuff the heads of all four, to decorate his home.
I kept waiting for the day he ran into a good dragon, and get all confused because the rest of the party wouldn't let him kill it, but it never happened.

Any book and any race.
No restictions as long as it is interesting.
A deity is hard to hang on your wall and then again im only lvl 7.
Same thing with humans. Being good and all it might be frowned upon if i nail their heads to the wall.
A dragon might be a bit over the top, and has been used a bit too much imo.
I was thinking in the lines of a magical beast with some interesting story, but i could really use some input

Have you considered the Questing Beast?

My first thoughts are to have you GM stat up a really cool unicorn or the White Hart, advancing the creature adding some cool monster templates from the d20pfsrd.com (or you know from one of the monster books I wrote).
For something specific that is already stated out try
Smiles-Under-the-Bed it has stats for low, mid, and high levels.
I have some free stuff too like the hero-killer template on a remorhaz that can be found in Pathways #7
You could also do a primal bandersnatch since its CR 19 would make it a decisive trophy for your level 14 character.

Here's the list of monsters by challenge rating, if that helps you choose.
Something like a Nightshade, Linnorm, or Thunderbird would be epic, but sentient foes (like the lich or a greater demon) are easier to give backstories and personalities to.
