Favorite James Bond movies?

Movies

I saw Skyfall over the week-end, and really liked it. I've always been a bit of a Bond fan, and seeing it really rekindled my interest in the series.

I took my early-teenage kid to see it with me: It was her first Bond film. Since we both have the collector/completeist streak, I've added all 22 of the Bond DVDs to my Netflix queue, and we're going to watch them all over the next few months.

I've already seen all of the previous Bond films (with two exceptions: never seen The Living Daylights or Die Another Day). I haven't seen some of them since they were in theatres, and I saw most of the Connery-era films on commercial broadcast TV when I was a teenager.

My top five Bond movies would have to be...

1) Goldfinger
2) From Russia With Love
3) Skyfall
4) The Spy Who Loved Me
5) Casino Royale

I would imagine that I'll revise this list after I've watched them all again.

What are your favorite Bond flicks?

Grand Lodge

Love Bond movies since my Dad took us to see Goldfinger. Yes. I am an old fart.

My picks would be:

1) Casino Royale - Daniel Craig makes a great Bond. Eva Green maybe my second favorite Bond girl. And it has my all time favorite Bond theme song, "You Know My Name."
It was gritty and smart. It may have one of the best Poker games on film since A Big Hand for the Little Lady.

2) Goldfinger - The best of the Sean Connery era, with maybe the best Bond villain of all, "No Mr. Bond. I expect you to die." And of course it has the classic Shirley Bassey theme song.

3) Skyfall - Its a good movie. Javier Bardem plays a very creepy villain. Lots of different things in this one that you don't see in the average Bond flick. Adele's theme song is a throw back to the Shirley Bassey style. There are also other things in this movie that is a "tip of the hat" to the early Bond movies.

4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service - This has my favorite Bond girl, Diana Rigg, the one that actually married Bond. Lazenby made a good Bond.

5) Thunderball - This was a good follow up to Goldfinger. Another great Shirley Bassey theme song, a hot Claudine Auger as Domino, and a classic underwater battle. What's not to like?

YMMV

Scarab Sages

I have yet to see Skyfall, so
1) Tie between 'From Russia with Love' and 'Casino Royale'
2) Goldfinger
3) Thunderball
4) Live and let Die
5) Goldeneye

WTF? I think you mean TOM JONES!

My favorites (I have not seen Skyfall yet but will be going next week):

1. Goldfinger
2. You Only Live Twice
3. Casino Royale
4. Diamonds Are Forever
5. Die Another Day or maybe Live and Let Die

Grand Lodge

Rough day!

You are so right. It was the Diamonds are Forever theme that was the other Shirley Bassey song. That was a great Bond flick too. However, Tom Jones Thunderball was great too.
