OGL Adventure Path Questions

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

We are going to try our first Adventure Path. But a question came up that I need advise/answers to:

If we start with one of the OGL Adventure Paths, what issues will we run into using the Pathfinder rules? Will I need to do much adjustments or can I still play them out of the book with little adjustment?

Next question: Other then the six parts and the players guide, what other items did you find you needed?

Lastly, is there a particular reason to run the different paths in order or could we start with "Cure of the Crimson Throne" first and return to the Rise of the runelords later? Or shoudl we start with Runelords first and work our way through that way?

Thank You for any and all help.

really there are only two problems you will run into.

You will have to change out some of the skills on the classed NPCs (as pathfinder combined a some of them)

though pathfinder updated most the monsters through the beauty of backwards compatibility you cna run them as listed (though you might need to add a CMB /CMD but that is pretty easy)

you would need the pathfinder core rule book and the beastiary for some of the encounters

each adventure path set of 6 books is entirely self contained so you can run them in any order

The dm will have to do some work to convert/replace stats of npcs and monsters or some skills on skill checks. The dm can check the forums here under adventure paths for help with that. I am fairly sure most of the ogl adventures have been completely converted by fans by now. Someone should be able to point you at those conversions, or help with them.

Make sure to separate need and want. You dont need anything else. But there are lots of tools paizo has to help. Map packs, monster tokens/pawns, item cards etc. All of these can be helpful but not strictly needed. I have run aps and the only thing i have needed is the ap itself and the rulebooks. But i have used alot more for convenience and to enhance my game.

The only strict sequel ap is shattered star, you should play rise of the runelords prior to playing shattered star if you ever want to play RoR. You should be able to run the adventure paths independently in whatever order you choose, with the exception of Jade Regent, which has some npc overlap of rise of the runelords, but it shouldnt be a huge issue, i believe jade regent even has some advice on how to handle it f you've already run rise.

Thanks for the input.

I think I know what we will do next.

We also have the Conversion Guide located here under "Free Pathfinder Roleplaying Game PDFs" that may help.
