Recently learned that teachers of middle school English classes are using a new technique to teach the passive voice. If you can insert the phrase "by Zombies" it is passive.

example: She was killed (by zombies). = makes sense, therefore is passive

Zombies killed (by zombies) her. = does not make sense, therefore not passive
