New teleportation spell

Scarab Sages

A quick note, the idea for this spell originated while trying to find an interesting use of my wizard's teleportation specialty to help our party rogue get into flanking/stabbing position. Afterwards I noticed that it is very similar to a certain murdering computer's favored science equipment...

That said, here is a rough concept for a new research spell that I would like input, ideas and corrections for if people would like to contribute. Also, if the same thing already exists or nearly does, please let me know. The closest functionality I could find was telekinetic charge.

Dimensional Link
Wizard ?
Casting Time: 1 Standard action
Components: V, S, M (a mobius strip)
Range: medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect: 2 5-ft. Cubes within range become adjacent
Duration: 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: none or Reflex negates, see text. Spell resist: no

When you cast this spell choose two spaces and a side of each. For the duration of this spell, the two spaces are treated as adjacent spaces along the selected sides for all purposes. Velocity is conserved, but persistent forces (such as gravity) do not extend through the link.

If one end of the link is opened beneath a creature, that creature may make a reflex save to move to the nearest available space. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks. If a creature is forced through a link, or pushed over a link so that it would fall into the opening, the creature does not receive a save.

Scarab Sages

Hmm, upon rereading my first post I realize that it sounds kind of scatterbrained.

Does anyone have any input on this? Specifically:

What level should this be? The spell can be used for things like:
- Flanking a target whose back is to a wall (this was the original idea for the spell)
- Dropping an enemy from a maximum height of "medium" above the caster with a reflex save to negate.
- Allowing many allies/enemies to travel as much as "medium" + normal movement in 1 move action, possibly bypassing difficult or impassable terrain.
- Used near a large body of transparent liquid, it could be used to dump large quantities of somewhere else.
- Drop an enemy through an infinite loop (reflex to jump away as it forms, probably another save or something to catch the edge after the first pass through? not sure/GM decision)

Based on these potential uses, it seems to have abilities similar to things like passwall, dimension door and the create pit line. Is it too flexible (to the point where the spell is overpowered)? It also is limited in that the caster must be able to see both ends of the linked spaces and they must be in range and once created, both allies and enemies can use the linked spaces to their advantage.

Now you're thinking with portals.

Hmmm, after thinking about it more it could even allow a character to flank with itself if you opened one end next to a PC in melee and the other end behind the enemy.
