I kinda second this. The summer months were tough on us since my wife is finishing grad school and so there were book and tuition fees that cut into our budget. I didn't get a chance to contribute to the Kickstarter due to the timing of it, but would have if it had occurred earlier in the year or in the fall, mostly for the awesome swag. Now I feel cheated out of an opportunity to participate.

Considering they mentioned the goblin squad in the convention speech I think it is unlikely that we have seen the last opportunity to join. I'm at least assuming they weren't advertising it in a "check out what you could have been a part of if you were paying more attention" sense.

I'm pretty sure Ryan has talked about there being additional chances over time to join the Goblin Squad.
If you're strapped for cash, I would strongly recommend looking for opportunities when Vic or Ryan ask for assistance from the community, such as the request they made some time ago requesting short videos.

It generally rubs me wrong to pay to be part of a game project before it's released, especially betas, considering so many projects flop, the developers basically do what they want anyway or things simply come off as lackluster. I'd be fine with "reach out to x people a week" kind of requirements and to keep a log of those interactions or doing other things as proof but won't be paying for it. That said, I'd love to join! So, it's something of a conundrum.

@Buri: I think the idea with GoblinSquad is along the lines that they get sooner & closer info from the devs and then they're a part of the more reliable discussion of this further afield.
I don't think beta is included - it was specified in the KS. So GS is more for people who are really interested in the ideas and making/development process of the game. I think as that will involve a good number of months, GS is a very rewarding pledge level; hopefully the gift that keeps on giving! ;)

It is already possible to be a member of the Goblin Squad without ever having given any money to Goblinworks. Everyone who provided a video in response to this thread was automatically included in the Goblin Squad. I expect there will be similar opportunities later.
