I was going to download this, until I saw that it was almost 8 hours long. Really? You couldn't release them as separate downloads?

Long podcast episodes are what we do. Yes, even stupidly long episodes. We do not aim the podcast at casual listeners.

Do people complain about 4 to 6 hour long episodes? Some people, sure (though not nearly as much as they (rightfully) complain about the long wait between them). Do people download them and enjoy them anyway? Yes, some in spite of -- but with most regular listeners -- because of the length.

I'm certain there are thousands of potential listeners who might otherwise download the podcast but choose not to do so because of the length. We're okay with that.

I gather that podcasts of this length do not meet your expectations. That's okay. If we were selling them, I might be concerned about trying to package a product in a manner which suited every listener.

However, this is a hobby for us and this is how we prefer to package what we do. It's what we enjoy and it's what most of our regular listeners enjoy too. If it's not what you enjoy -- I'm okay with that and I presume you are as well.

The guys over at Know Direction aim for shorter podcast episodes and I expect they will package most of this material in a manner more in tune with your tastes.

I groove on their program and their average podcast length is a meaty 3-5 hrs long but is like a 4 course thanksgiving meal... and we are so starved by the time we get the podcast its the only thing that will satiate us.

Glad to see you back Steel.

I'm glad to be back amongst the living, too. Well, at least for a while. My late August/September is another heaping helping of *two* trials. It's nice work when you can get it and I'm not complaining - but I'm missing Gencon this year and that is ...annoying.
