I was playing a pregen last night and died.
Let me say right now that this was entirely my own fault. I was playing the ninja and I stopped moving. Whoops.
Anyway, I know it can be pointed at a blank character slot (it actually already was; I'd planned to use the credit to start a new character), but my question is this: I died during the first combat. I have no idea what happens after. Am I able to replay this scenario with another character at a later date, or is it shut out forever?

That doesn't make any sense.
I know the rule is one player Chronicle and one GM Chronicle for any given Scenario per player. And they can't be on the same character.
So...if he died he didn't get a Chronicle. `Why can't he play it again and get one?
Not trying to be difficult, but it doesn't make a lot of sense.

But he did get a chronicle. A chronicle denoting that the PC died and was not raised before the scenario ended.
Of course, said chronicle would denote that the PC hadn't earned any XP for the scenario, but that is different than not receiving a chronicle at all.

You're right, Patrick ... it is.
This is one of those corner cases in which the policy has unintended consequences. It's not intended to bust someone for an emergency situation.
... sadly, it's not something that can really change, since it's there for an official reason to prevent abuse by other players, and it would cause havoc if it were allowed. I'm truly sorry for the predicament.

No, no, I know. And, all things considered, I did die: Not being able to replay the scenario is hardly unfair. Just unfortunate.

"If you rerun it and don't get credit, what happens if your character dies?" would be the limiting factor for me.
For cases like this (unless I'm told I'm wrong later), if I had four at the table to make it PFS-legal, I would let you run it with a pregen just as if I ran an NPC to bring it to legal play.
You wouldn't get any benefit besides the play time, because you don't get a chronicle sheet, and you wouldn't risk anything because it's a pregen.
I would /not/ let you rerun this with a custom character because if your character died again, it would be awkward tracking it.

Wait... Did you or did you not receive a Chronicle sheet?
I don't have the Guide in front of me (can't download stuff at work, and it's still not available on the web), but I was under the impression that the following two points were true:
1. If you participated in fewer than three encounters (regardless of whether you died or not) you don't get a chronicle sheet.
2. You can get up to one chronicle sheet for playing a scenario.
If both of the above points are true (I could be mis-remembering), then the OP shouldn't have gotten a chronicle (since he didn't participate in 3 encounters) and is therefore still eligible to earn his 1 allotted player chronicle for that scenario.
So if someone with access to the wording in the Guide could double-check those points, that should clear up this situation with sufficient finality.

Really? I guess I need to re-read some stuff in the Guide.
