Last night there was a newbie at the weekly PFS game at my FLGS. When we were chatting, I found out that he's only in town for a while, He and his son have the Basic Box and wanted to try it out. We've got him covered while he's here in North Carolina, but he's not aware of anything "back home" in South Bend, Indiana. We looked at the list of local contacts, but didn't notice any that were reasonably close.
Does anyone know of Pathfinder play in or around South Bend?

Ya this area is kinda dry for pathfinder. There are 2 LGS(not sure about the F part) that i know of the griffon book store and fantasy games, both in south bend. I havent checked personally but from other threads on this forum it doesnt look like there is strong pf presence at either.
I like in elkhart, which is next to south bend and play with some friends and family. Ive checked several websites for local games but most in the "area" are in kalamazo,mi or portage,in both farther than i want to drive.
I would love to find a group to actually get to PC instead of noobishly GMing, but no luck as of yet.

Did you miss my PM, Benoc? I'm in Elkhart and also looking to play. I played 3.x a long time, and I really like PF. I'm not particularly repulsive, in person.
The LGSs carry some PF stuff, and it seems to sell, but whatever PFS they tried to start didn't last. I've only been here about a year, so I don't know much about it. I'd be happy to play. I'd even GM if there was no one else to do it. Done that, too.

Sorry Expert wasnt trying to duck you or anything, i had asked my group but we are pretty set on players atm.
Jeremy sent me a pm and if we can get some more players and a location id be up for another game. Im currently in my local game and a new online jade regent game, but i can probably play/run another.
Pfs is something ive wanted to try but pbp isnt my style and online its hard to find a game time that works for me.
If we can get some more ppl and spot to play, im good to play. Being laid off atm i have quite a bit of time on my hands.
Edit* ive thought about the portage idea and kalamazoo even, but with $4 gas its a little far for me.

I can fold out a table & pay for snacks. Best group size has always seemed like 3-6 players + GM to me. Doug, your buddy still interested? Vance, still willing to make a few trips out to help get something started? With Benoc & Expert, that'd get us 4 + GM, and once we've got something started, it probably wouldn't take long to pick up 1 or 2 more.

I have been thinking about getting a PFS game going at the Griffon. I would love to play and or take a shot at GMing.
I believe the upstairs game room is open at the Griffon on Friday nights 7PM- midnight.
You would think that with ND in town we would have enough college age kids that would be interested in playing.
I might take the initiative this fall to try to get a monthly game going. Gonna have to find time between the three kids and a wife with a crazy work schedule so may or may not happen.

There is definitely enough interest in the area for PFS play. Both Fantasy Games and The Griffon have open gaming space and would probably love to host some organized play.
On a side note, several local folks (myself included) have organized a RPG day at Fantasy Games on October 13th. Full release below:
Coming October 13: South Bend Games Day, a role playing game event
hosted at Fantasy Games in South Bend, IN
Join us for two sessions of high adventure and gritty action starring
your favorite role playing games. There will be two sessions for games
and four games per session.
Interested GMs can sign up at the South Bend Games Day website or by
emailing Derek: derekas (at) gmail.com
Sign up for interested players will be completed in a similar manner,
after we post the games for official sign up. We’ll do that just as
soon as we have the GMs signed up!
Questions should be addressed on the SBGD website or via email to
Derek. Fantasy Games is not managing this event, so they will be
unable to properly assist you with questions related to the games.

There are two time slots available for games:

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Sounds like we could do Fridays at the Griffon (or Fantasy Games?) if Friday night works for Vance, Michael and anyone else on the weekend. Otherwise I could host Saturdays.
How about we list manageable time slots, player/GM, and earliest start date available?
Jeremy - Any time Friday or Saturday, or Sunday evenings. Very much prefer to play, willing to occasionally GM to fill in in a pinch. Can start as soon as this weekend.

I am the President of the University of Notre Dame RPG Club, and we do PFS every Friday night (Go Irish and all that). I guess if you don't mind playin' with a bunch of college people, we're a decent group to play with. We get about 4 tables a week.

Hi everyone. I'd like to help you all organize in any way that I can. There has been a lot of interest in PFS in South Bend/Elkhart, especially after GenCon. VanceMadrox and Irish202 are really great GMs, and I think they would be wonderful assets in terms of GMing and organizing!
I'd like to see us involved in the October 13th game day. I will see what I can work out.
If you need anything from me, please do not hesitate to contact TracyPFSIndy at a gmail dot come email address!

I have some free time today, so I'll swing by Griffin and see what their availability is. If there is availability, how does this Saturday (22nd) at 10AM sound? I don't have to GM in Kalamazoo until 6PM that day, so that would leave me plenty of time to get there.
Also, hey Tracy! I checked the Game Day website, they only have 1 more free slot open for the 7-11 slot. You may want to snag that slot soon, though there is another person is also running a pathfinder game too.

I just went to the Griffon today.
Game room hours
Fridays 7:00 PM to midnight
Saturdays 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
I'm down for 10 on Saturday. :) I have played once before but bought the Core Rule book today (Got the beginners box at Gen Con) so First Steps is good with me but if other object then I will play whatever is clever.

Crap out of town Oct 6th too!!! Sigh... I hope you guys keep this up I will make it out as soon as I can. As For making new characters I sprung for hero labs right before GenCon and man does it speed things up!
Should we make a SBPFS Facebook page or a shared google callendar email list or something as a way to keep everyone informed of the next session? Or do you think just best to post here to eliminate e need of cross posting?
After I get a few more games under my belt I will be willing to give GMing a try if the PFS at the Griffon starts to grow and we have a need for another GM. (i've always wanted to try GMing)
