I like the format, personally. For one reason. (no, its not the chick in the low cut blouse.)
I really like that each contestant has an advocate. Someone who, when the judges are nailing their feet to the floor, is there to help shine some light on the good they've done so far and the improvements they have made.
Having B, G, and A on the peoples' team has lended a good angle to the show, in my opinion if only for that reason.
(though the interaction between the three is funny as heck to watch, too. seeing B and G go after each other or G pick on A is just hilarious. And A putting bunny ears on G in that one shot? priceless)
The contestants are also interesting- though I have a striking inability to spell most of their names.
Ippy has a rather interesting background and seems to be able to cook and Linkie(sp?) seems to change her accent completely every scene.
At the moment, I think its gonna come down to Retro Chick, the kid (who's won every single episode so far, I think) and.. well, i dunno who else.. those two seem to hit off all the shows so far both cooking and presentation wise.
But yep, I watch it all the time. (watching last week's rerun right now actually.. or quasi watching it anyway. )

Yay, glad I'm not the only one.
I'm a big fan of Emily and Justin (Retro Chick and I think who you're referring to as the kid). They both seem like they'd be the most watchable in terms of on-air personality and something new in terms of food knowledge/style.
I think my big problem with the new format is:
A) it's focusing too much on the three mentors instead of the new potential stars. I'm not sure how that's going to help them become bigger names, though I am cracking up at all of Alton's comments and facial expressions; and
B) It makes it feel really scripted. In the second week, I would have been stunned if Team Alton had gone down to three people while the other two were still at 5. I think it's pretty clear Alton or Giada will lose a team member this coming week; and
C) It's protecting weaker contestants; I have a hard time seeing Martie or Judson (the two weaker Team Alton members) staying when Eric (who I don't think was going to go all the way, but still seemed to have a little more potential) is now gone.
