Hirst Arts "accessories" and stuff

Miniatures

Haven't posted any of my minis or terrain in a while. Been too busy at work. Here's some stuff I've done over the past several weeks, but just posted on my blog.

Chests, barrels and bridge

Campfires, buckets, skulls and bags

Doors, logs and bags

Small crates or boxes

Big crates with lids

Humongous big barrels of ale

These only represent a fraction of what I've painted, and I've still got a lot I've cast from hydrostone but haven't painted yet.

I also made this hag's hut out of the six inch fieldstone mold.

Been way too busy at work with a major project and haven't been able to do much casting and painting lately... Hopefully I'll get back to it soon.

Crud... forgot you need the fully qualified URL for links to work within Paizo forums...

Working link to my blog.

FYI- if you add a bit of woodglue to the plaster mix you can easily cast the lids to the large crate....

makes it 99% more effective.

I've seen another post on the Hirst forums suggesting mixing glue with the plaster. I've been meaning to try that. I think I will tonight.

How much glue do you mix in, and how does that affect pouring? That lid is a tiny, tiny little slit in the mold, and it's tough to get it to cast properly already...

if i am doing just the one cast... i add about a tablespoon of glue to the water and mix well. Pouring remains the same, but drying time is extended. I use a dehydrator but mine seems to take twice as long to dry.

If i get a chance i may make a video showing a how to..

I'll give it a try tonight. Does the curing also take longer? I usually let my molds sit about 30 minutes before de-molding. Using glue should I extend that to an hour? Does using glue increase the need for using a de-molding compound? I currently just use "wet water" in my molds before pouring the hydrostone.

cure time may be a bit longer... when casting that mold i normally let it cure overnight anyway b/c its such a pain...
