Recently, when Jerry Leiber's death made the news and was being discussed on these forums, I had to bring up You're the Boss, as performed by Brian Setzer and Gwen Stefani.
The original was performed by Elvis Presley and Ann Margret, but I don't go for that style as much.

And since I bring up "Swing" versions of songs, I should mention "Fotoromanza" as performed by Alfredo Rey e la Sua Orchestra.
Notice that I did NOT provide a link to a YouTube video that time. That's because I don't like the version in the YouTube video. I much prefer the song as I had originally heard it, on the "Swing Around the World" album.
For a better YouTube video of Alfredo Rey e la Sua Orchestra, try Xdono (although it would be stretching it to call that a "duet").

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant Killing the Blues
seeing Robert Plant in a ruffled shirt, singing country music has much novelty value for me.

Bruce Springsteen and Mike Ness - "Bad Luck"
I feel like I'd like this one if the sound were more clear. :(
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Home
So catchy, despite the quirky campiness!
Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue - "Where The Wild Roses Grow"
Not sure I like the slow beat, but love the creepy video!

I'm not a fan of Led Zeppelin myself, but I do love Alison-Robert duets. I'm sure you've heard Please Read the Letter too?

Dilvish the Danged |

'Please Read the Letter' almost is a Led Zeppelin song. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page wrote it, it just never made it onto any of their albums (at least to my knowledge).
I have the Plant-Krauss album "Raising Sand, I think it's very good. I also like their cover of the Doc Watson and Rosalie Watson song Your Long Journey

I can't stand...the rest of the B-52s, for that matter.
Sign says: Stay away, fools! 'Cuz love rules, at the luh-uh-uh-uhv shack!
Fred Schneider's coming to your house, Shiny.

There was a time, in the nineties, when I would find myself drinking in local neighborhood bars in East Boston. While rubbing shoulders with the greater Boston area's airline workers and various Central American immigrants, I noticed that I could not spend a night in any bar with a karaoke machine without hearing "Love Shack" at least once.
It's not my favorite B-52's track, but it's a catchy song with a pretty awesome video.

Just for fun, I'm compiling an album of duets. Suggest me your favorites!
Yay hello Tequila Sunrise!
When I hear / read "duet," first song that pops into my mind is this version of Unforgettable.
I know it wasn't originally a duet. Technology has its upsides.

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Who Built the Road
AWESOME! My friend Mike (a big Screaming Trees fan) just played this for me this weekend

It's certainly an earworm, I'll give you that. Almost as bad as this hateful song. Almost.

Heh - I came on them from the other direction, been a Belle & Sebastian fan since a friend gave me a casette with Tigermilk that he'd copied from another friend who'd copied it from a friend of a friend (judging by the sound-quality, this had probably gone on for 12-13 degrees of separation since whoever actually bought the record) - let's just say I didn't complain one bit when it became available on CD. ;)

Sweet. I had forgotten about that one.
Thea Gilmore & Joan Baez - The Lower Road
I'm not sure this qualifies as a full duet, but Thea has an incredible voice! I'm looking into her music regardless.

Nice!

Tequila Sunrise,
Yeah that song works on so many levels. I'm pleased you liked it. :D
I'm hoping you post your selections at some point. If you only take a few of the suggestions presented here, it'll be an eclectic album at the very least.

Well I feel kinda bad, because I only ended up using two of the suggested duets. I couldn't find burnable copies of some, I could only cram 17 total onto a cd; and of course I have pretty finicky taste in music. Still I do think what I compiled is pretty eclectic...
Sting and Cheb Mami
Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes -- A cheesy classic, but what can I say? I'm a sap.
George Michael and Elton John -- Elton is a long-time favorite of mine, and this duet is great.
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt -- I don't know about the other guys around here, but my reverence for Norah is somewhere in the vicinity of the reverence I've heard others have for Cindy Crawford, J Lo or whatever balloon-bosomed chick is the current spectacle. I want to have her babies. Gorgeous quarter-Indian jazz genius babies. ;)
Alison Krauss and Gillian Welsh
Gillian Welsh and Norah Jones
Luciano Pavarotti and Biagio Antonacci
Alison Krauss and John Waite
Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock
Alison Krauss and Robert Plant -- Yes, again.
Sheryl Crow and Sting -- Have I mentioned how much of a sap I am?
Mary J Blige and U2
Luciano Pavarotti and Dolores O'Riordan -- No, I don't speak Italian but Pavarotti threw some incredible concerts and duets back in the day.
Rob and Alison -- This is the last one, I promise!
Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis -- Didn't see the movie, though you'd think I should.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros -- Is the chick one of the MZs, or what? Whatever, catchy song!
Well, thanks all of your suggestions!

I think Norah Jones is great too. Not a duet, but her version of My Blue Heaven is fantastic. I also like "The Little Willies" a lot.

The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |

Conor Oberst Gillian Welch - Lua ~ song gives me goosebumps nearly every time I hear it
The Postal Service w/ Jen Wood - Nothing Better ~ just love this song
She & Him - You Really Got a Hold on Me ~ basically all of the She & Him songs where M. Ward adds his voice should be added. Should probably separate Zooey and Ben...
The Decemberists w/ Becky Stark ~ it's hard to single out just one great duet on this album since they're all so incredible. The album plays out better as a story so just taking a piece out is really detrimental to it's effect.

Last week, I discovered a song, and today, I decided it's my favorite duet: "Mr Bass Man" by Johnny Cymbal (1963).
