This game sounds so good

Pathfinder Online

been doing some research and read the blogs and this game sounds like a true mmo. the team sounds like they actually understand how to make a mmo with longevity instead of the gear grind that gets kind of old and stale after a few months just to find your gear that you worked hard for get replaced. nothing wrong with those types of games for people that like them but I want something more out of an mmo.

just some simple suggestions i would like to make for the devs to consider.

1. make leveling actually hard and a bit time consuming. im currently playing swtor and while i enjoy the game the leveling was way too fast for me. i want slower advancement and i want the advancement to mean something when i get there. I know they have stated this is their plan but devs please stick to that plan and dont try to make the game for the me want it now crowd.

2. make a skill based game where levels are not as important as how many skills you have. I know this is your stated intent, just follow through with it.

3. allow us to make our own customizable character class instead of premade ones.

4. please no tab target with auto hit on abilities and spells. for some inspiration on how to do combat right take a look at asherons call combat. you can dodge spells in that game if you do it right or arrows and you have to be close to a target to hit it with a melee weapon. please bring that back to the mmo genre where pvp requires some player skill and not just character stats.

overall i like what im reading so far about the game. ive been waiting for a dnd type fantasy game that is a true sandbox since i was a kid playing table top rpg games. noone has really ever delivered that in a computer game so far except maybe ultima online which i never did get a chance to play. seems like you guys got it right if you stick to what you have stated in your blogs and I personally cant wait to see what you guys come up with as a final product. if this game turns out to be what your blog posts indicates then ill be here for a long long while even if it has a few bugs and problems. stick to the vision you guys have stated and I shall be a very happy mmo customer.

It's come up in other threads, but I'll gladly repeat myself here.

Please, please, please do not implement some kind of FPS-style combat system where it's more important how quick my physical reflexes are, than how well I make decisions.

In fact, if you can, please make a game where a severely disabled person can play effectively, as long as they can make good decisions and convey those to the computer in a timely manner.

If there are specific complaints you have about tab-targeting, please express those and give the devs an opportunity to address them. We've already discussed how most implementations of tab-targeting include silly nonsense like allowing you to easily see where someone is even though they should be hidden from your view. Nobody wants that. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Tab-targeting is good. It is a simple way to tell the computer who you're looking at. It doesn't have to let you target things you couldn't target with your mouse, and it doesn't have to give you any kind of advantage in being able to find your target if it's hidden.

I would absolutely love to see a more realistic system where arrows fly true, and don't bend through the air as their target moves. Same with spells. I totally agree with this.

no i wasnt talking about fps style twitch combat. asherons call didnt have that, but if someone shoots a arrow at you and you move during the flight time the arrow will miss, same as with a spell that has a flight time such as fireball, lightning bolt, magic missile etc. all of those things were dodgeable whereas in most tab target games those things will track you down like heat seeking missiles. i want more of a true combat feel rather than just mashing buttons knowing each one will hit. the targeting dont matter so much to me as keeping a certain amount of player skill in the game rather than focusing on character stats such as accuracy to see if i get hit or not. that type of combat is just more often encountered using a tab targeting system although it doesnt necessarily have to be that way.

Why would lightning bolt be slow enough to dodge? Lighting is near instant.

Fireball I agree except that it is an aoe in pathfinder.

magic missle is supposed to follow tgt. Technically its supposed to be auto hit but I never did like auto hits.

You mean to deviate far from what D&D is?

You mean to make PFO just another MMO like numerous others? That is WoW clones with the ability too duck away from blows and whatnot...that is bringing action elements into RPG...which is VERY common in MMO's theese days and you really don

t need to look far to find one. Why not play DDO if thats what you want? I mean heck...it even claims its a D&D game....

You can still play UO...but its still too much PvP/sandbox and it still looks like crap.
