well I have two. Pathfinder Online:Acceptance Testing to denote that the product is being delivered to the users(us) for testing. to me it also says it is a product worthy of being opened up for testing but still might have some problems. Pathfinder Online: Foundations We will be building the foundations of the game in this phase with world building, building cities and settlements so to me this fits well. ![]()
the one thing i really like about this blog post is they are trying to incorporate the pve aspect of the game to fit the sandbox aspect of the game. most sandboxes the pve content feels tacked on which is why i didnt like most of them. seems in this game everything is gonna build off of each other where pve type characters will have a role to play to help further the game. looking forward to more. ![]()
see to me an mmo is a natural progresion of the pen and paper genre of tabletop games. i started at 8 years old playing dnd with my older brother and a friend. a friend i still have to this day. the one thing i always wanted was a game that i could play at any time without having to wait for friends to be able to get together. I wasnt even a huge video game person till i started playing mmos with asherons call. that was awesome just for the simple fact at this point me and my friends were kind of all spread out and working, some had kids by this time and we could rarely get together to play. but we could get together alot more often online and adventure together. so to me a mmo just makes it easier to game with my friends when we live in different states or cities now. wow came along and turned mmos into a esport, took most of the game out of it. i want pathfinder to go back to ultima online type days and the days of asherons call which was alot like the days of pnp gaming. never played ultima but from the stories I heard it reminded me of those day and asherons call definitely was. I have personally never played pathfinder, me and some friends want to start up a pathfinder campaign but right now our schedules are way too different to do it, so pathfinder online might be our pathfinder campaign we want to start. mmos are not necessarily bad, and 15 bucks a month isnt all that much to pay for good entertainment for a month, dont just dismiss it for that reason alone. i dismissed mmos at first because i didnt think i should pay monthly for a game, but when i finally did cave in and get a mmo, i absolutely loved the genre, even if i havent enjoyed alot of the games lately. ![]()
welcome. im fairly new here myself but the blogs have me sold that this is a game worth watching. I cant say i was dissapointed in swtor, no more than ive been with any other game to come out in the last 5 or 6 years. but for now ill be playing swtor while i wait to hear more about pathfinder and copernicus from 38 studios. so far ive enjoyed reading those blogs alot about the systems they want in game, just hope they stick to that. ![]()
no i wasnt talking about fps style twitch combat. asherons call didnt have that, but if someone shoots a arrow at you and you move during the flight time the arrow will miss, same as with a spell that has a flight time such as fireball, lightning bolt, magic missile etc. all of those things were dodgeable whereas in most tab target games those things will track you down like heat seeking missiles. i want more of a true combat feel rather than just mashing buttons knowing each one will hit. the targeting dont matter so much to me as keeping a certain amount of player skill in the game rather than focusing on character stats such as accuracy to see if i get hit or not. that type of combat is just more often encountered using a tab targeting system although it doesnt necessarily have to be that way. ![]()
been doing some research and read the blogs and this game sounds like a true mmo. the team sounds like they actually understand how to make a mmo with longevity instead of the gear grind that gets kind of old and stale after a few months just to find your gear that you worked hard for get replaced. nothing wrong with those types of games for people that like them but I want something more out of an mmo. just some simple suggestions i would like to make for the devs to consider. 1. make leveling actually hard and a bit time consuming. im currently playing swtor and while i enjoy the game the leveling was way too fast for me. i want slower advancement and i want the advancement to mean something when i get there. I know they have stated this is their plan but devs please stick to that plan and dont try to make the game for the me want it now crowd. 2. make a skill based game where levels are not as important as how many skills you have. I know this is your stated intent, just follow through with it. 3. allow us to make our own customizable character class instead of premade ones. 4. please no tab target with auto hit on abilities and spells. for some inspiration on how to do combat right take a look at asherons call combat. you can dodge spells in that game if you do it right or arrows and you have to be close to a target to hit it with a melee weapon. please bring that back to the mmo genre where pvp requires some player skill and not just character stats. overall i like what im reading so far about the game. ive been waiting for a dnd type fantasy game that is a true sandbox since i was a kid playing table top rpg games. noone has really ever delivered that in a computer game so far except maybe ultima online which i never did get a chance to play. seems like you guys got it right if you stick to what you have stated in your blogs and I personally cant wait to see what you guys come up with as a final product. if this game turns out to be what your blog posts indicates then ill be here for a long long while even if it has a few bugs and problems. stick to the vision you guys have stated and I shall be a very happy mmo customer. |
