[EA Sucks] EA account banned by EA, because of EA

Liberty's Edge

I'm signed up on the the old republic site. I also play battlefield 3 so I have Origin. In order to play BF3 a web page opens and you have to log into your battlelog to launch the game. It launches from a web page.

Since both games are run by the same company, its the same password for the old republic and battlelog.

Yesterday I get an email from EA saying I MUST change my old republic password they are cleaning up the site getting ready for launch, trying to prevent hacking, ect.. So I do that, log back into origin and battle log with my new password fine.

But over the last day, I have been logged out of battle log saying my password is not valid. So I try to log back in a few times under same password, still nothing. So a couple of times I had to use the "forget your password?" link where they send me a link to log in and change my password. I use the old republic password again because I know everything has to match. I am fine for awhile but I keep getting logged out of battle log.

So I called EA about an hour ago. They tryed to change my password on there end and I log in, still can't log in.

Then the guy from EA tells me I can't log into my account because I have been banned due to too many log in attempts.

WTF

Pretty typical mess from trying to merge two different userinfo sets. Contact them and ask them how you can verify ownership of your account.

I was able to verfy fine. But they said once I am banned I have to wait for the ban to lift before they/ I can fix anything. There is no way for EA to lift a ban on someone. Even though this was not my fault at all, I am the one getting porked.

Question... are you absolutely certain that the "email from EA" asking you to change your password was actually from them, and not some sort of phishing scheme? If you ran afoul of someone who then tried to hijack your account, that might explain the log-in issues and possibility of a ban.

Yes, EA said they were going to have people reset there old republic passwords before the game launched. They let people know through emails and on the fourms that it was happening.

Also when I got the email from EA saying I had to change my password, there was no links in the email. It just told me I had to change my password. Phishing emails have links to click on to send info.

This is the same company that when the Sims 3 Store started glitching for me and I could not download items I purchased, customer service's official response was "This is a known issue. We cannot fix it at this time. Please accept this $20 coupon for the store."

Think about it. A $20 coupon I cannot use, because of the bug. And I was far from the only person treated like this.

CapeCodRPGer, what happened to you really sucks. Keep pestering EA until they fix it. From what I've heard on troubleshooting forums sometimes you just have to try to get to the right service rep.

Yeah, sounds like EA just totally screwed up.

And, honestly, the screw-up itself? I tend to be willing to accept that such thinks happen, and the best-laid plans can end in disaster. It's really the response - the knee-jerk ban and the insistence on you playing by their timetable in waiting for it to be fixed - where you can really see the failure of the company and their attitude towards their customers.

Well god home from work and I was able to change my origin password back to my old password, then I changed the old republic site password and battle log password to match. I was able to log into battle log. I think EA may have fixed it. We'll see.

I understand why I got banned, as it looks like I am being hacked, ect.. What upset me was the fact once it happened, the customer service people were totally unable to fix it. If they could not fix it right away, someone needs to be avaible that can.

Was a known issue from the SWTOR side. THe fix was posted on their beta tester forums...which unless youre in the beta you couldnt see...

It should be fixed now, though.
