Please do not have quest helpers in the form that games like wow and rift have - the ones that mean you dont even have to read the quest - almost every quest i picked up in rift i never read and just headed for the area marked on the map, killed stuff and handed in - BORING!!

Make people think about what the quest involves and let us figure them out, makes gameplay so much more interesting. (EQ1 with no quest helpers was great).

I disagree. Have the system, but make it an opt in/out function. That way the ones who want to grind out the quest with no assistance can, and those of us who are more casual players and just want to experience some mindless combat as a break from our TTop games can pass go and collect 200gp.

To what end? There are exactly two viewpoints, in direct opposition. You've not shared your own opinion, so there is no evidence of any consensus, just an indicator that there is no agreement whatsoever.

Good luck with that.

From what I have seen, quest NPCs without indicators are one of the most common problems in the tutorial. It is more hard core to not have them, offer NPC names and vague directions, but it isn't proving to be a popular way to do it with a very LARGE % of new players.

Just an observation of a partial realization of "Let's do it this way" based on in game experience.
