The original versions of the storm king had him as more of a elemental creature, some versions as a living storm, a raiju, or very large three-eyed wolf.
They had the idea of when
They had a much darker creature, character, and world designs outside of Equestria as well. Think Dark Crystal or even stranger. The pirate crea were more dragon-like. They even had a city/town made from the bones of dragon.

Also in the movie they were originally going to have ** spoiler omitted **.

So here's an interesting bit of news. Cartoon Brew (link contains no spoilers) says that - while Hasbro has not released the budget for the My Little Pony movie - they estimate that it cost between $5-$8 million to make.
That's notable because, according to Box Office Mojo (link contains no spoilers), the film's current gross (for foreign and domestic proceeds) is just shy of $16.8 million.
That's good news, because the rule of thumb for a movie being profitable is that it needs to earn twice its production costs, as that's the approximate figure needed to pay for making the movie and advertising it. If that's the case here, and those estimates for the MLP movie's production costs are right, then it has - at the very least - recouped its investment, and it's possible (or even likely) that it's showing a net profit.
I think that's important because I'm convinced that if Hasbro is going to bring My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to an end in the near future, they're going to do so when the already-announced season eight comes to a close (since that would let them hit another sixty-five episode block). Given that those decisions tend to be roughly a year or so in advance, that means that such a decision is being made right about now. Hence, I think that the profitability of the movie is going to be a factor in whether they let the series end with season eight, or renew it for another sixty-five episodes.
Let's hope that the movie keeps earning money, and that we get a season nine and beyond!

So has anyone else noticed that the Equestria Girls web-series has had its premiere date pushed up? It's now going to debut on November 17th, less than a month from now!
You can see a new trailer for it over here!

Some interesting info from Hasbro's 3rd quarter investor relations conference call.
-Franchise brands increased by 7% with Pony in the lead.
-The movie was successful at re-energizing interest in franchise.
-They are banking on making good money from Blu-ray/DVD sales.
-The movie is just shy of 40 million(35 million).
-Didn't go into detail about movie's budget but mentioned multiple times it is modest. The movie will absolutely pay back it's investment.
-They are seeing it driving games, general toys, and more.
-More pony games on the way.
-They will be using what they learned from the Pony Model in other brands.
-Pony is a strong performer on Netflix.
-Still plans on releasing the film internationally.
Also there is already talk about making another movie.

So:
Several times this season the DVR just decided it wouldn't set the timer for MLP. So we set it manually.
And about a half dozen times we would get to just past the 1st commercial break and the show would lock up.
So today we are up at 10:30 to watch it as it records. While it is overcast, there is not inclement weather. And the signal locked up right after the 1st break.
Has anyone else experienced satellite transmission issues this season?
Edit: When would Twilight ever need to know
OMG! I know those Sirens. Aria, Adaggio, and Sonata!

Google the mlp d&d exclusive dice.
Question is answered on box cover.

Naturally all with Spheres of Power.
Pinkie Pie for example, has the warp sphere with Extradimensional Storage. That's where she keeps her party cannon, and it also explains how she mysteriously gets into all those strange places and can geg ahead of Rainbow Dash.
Personally, I would have them stated out as follows:
All ponies as a racial ability get a Martial Tradition from Spheres of Might for free.
All unicorns as a racial ability get Basic Magical Training (Telekinesis sphere) for free.
Twilight - Incanter (focuses in the Divination sphere, but ultimately dips into nearly every sphere).
Fluttershy - Eliciter (Took Mind sphere w/ Animal Shaman drawback and Nature sphere w/ Natural Spirit drawback)
Pinkie Pie - Armorist (bound weapon: party cannon, possibly spread evenly between Creation and Warp sphere, although probably dips into the Divination sphere for "pinkie-sense").
Rainbow Dash - Elementalist (focuses entirely in the Weather sphere)
Rarity - Blacksmith (doesn't focus in any particular combat sphere, and uses her feats for possibly Extra Magical Talent to gain Creation and Enhancement spheres)
Applejack - Iron Chef Blacksmith (focuses almost entirely in the Athletics sphere)

They're all up on 'DiscoveryGo' and have been for weeks.
https://www.discoverygo.com/my-little-pony-equestria-girls/pinkie-sitting/
Warning: the site is a pain in the appendix to navigate. I've tried exploring the various links, or navigating away from them, and it seems nigh-impossible to get back through the website.
Once they're all up on the hasbro youtube playlist, that'll be the place to go, but for now there are 10 up there.

I really wish they just kept making Equestria Girls movies instead of these specials and shorts.
I agree. If we're getting forty-five shorts, each of which is around 2:30 in length, then that's almost two hours' worth of content. I'd much rather they make that into a movie (or even some TV-length specials, like we received before), than keep it to these micro-slice of life bits. While I suppose it's possible for them to have some sort of plot arc across them, it feels almost guaranteed that these will be "short but pointless."

Hrm, so the Overpowered short for Equestria Girls just threw a minor monkey wrench into how their new geode-based powers work:

Is anyone else seeing this stuff about a mega-leak regarding the future of the series?
Supposedly these leaks are coming out via the same channel(s) that the movie and some pre-release season seven information were leaked on, which people are saying suggests they're legit. At the same time, these haven't been confirmed, and only seem to be making an outline rather than a concrete statement of intent. Even so...this is a lot to take in.
There are episode and season-length plot spoilers for season eight, which I've avoided looking at (and if you do, and want to discuss them here, please use the spoiler tags!), but the major news is about the trajectory of the series as a whole:
- Supposedly, season 9 (2019) will be the final season!
- After season 8, there'll be a "holiday special" at the end of 2018.
- Following season 9, there'll be an "event special (sequel movie concept)" which isn't defined but sounds like a sequel to the movie we had earlier this year.
- A "prequel movie" is also listed, though the information seems to conflict if it will be mid-2019 or early 2020.
- In either late 2020 or early 2021, we'll get G5, a new MLP show with no in-universe connections to Friendship is Magic, though (as in every version of the show) there'll be incarnations of existing characters.
At this point it's still all just rumors. But if all this turns out to be right...well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
