As for the new one...well, I don't like heavy use of CG. I'd rather watch him slay an enormous snake puppet than CG sand men. In truth Conan is a relatively low fantasy world: magic is feared and seldom used save by often power-hungry sorcerers. Monsters exist, but they're hidden away within places seldom seen by mortal men. In truth some of them even terrify Conan. But half the time Conan's greatest enemies are other barbarians like himself.

love Magic? Say what? Almost every REH story had him fighting a wizard. They were popping out of the woodwork. Demon Apes, elephant people from the starz, giant spiders. Sure the everyday populace has very limited magic. But wizards are spitting it out.

In high magic worlds, the everyday populace uses it too, for whatever they need it for. Nobody really fears it much because everyone is familiar with it. Not so in Conan's world. Sure, stuff pops up to attack Conan, but that's because he has a habit of going out of his way to find things in the middle of nowhere. Most of the people he's with are terrified because they have little to no experience with such things, even brave and worldly fellow warriors. Sure, there's a wizard or two in every city he goes to...but that's 1 out of thousands of people who have no access to it.

Liberty's Edge

Conan was alright. Scorpion King level of quality, better effects.

Jason Momoa was a better Conan than Arnie, scarred (like he should be) and brooding.

Awseome Hyborian vistas.

But I just don't get why Hollywood thinks that Joe Schmoe the writer can write better Conan than REH.

In the end just not enuff balls as REH Conan.

The Phoenix on the Sword, The Tower of the Elephant, Jewels of Gwahlur, Beyond the Black River, Red Nails, The Forst Giants Daughter, The God in the Bowl. All better stories than the Mask of Acheron.

Dark Horse figured it out. Too bad Hollywood hasn't.

Sadly this is probably the final nail in Conans coffin.

Number one in Russia last weekend.
HUZZAH!!!

I guess we can always thaw out Kevin Sorbo and make more Kull the Conqueror movies...

Now watch "Shark Night in 3d" be some kinda blockbuster.....(which I actually wanna see for some sick reason)

Just saw it. It wasn't very good. The 3D was notably terrible.

No surprise almost no one went to this movie. (Those people made the right decision, BTW.)

I liked it. AND I've been known to actually like AND dislike things.

I think the girl's butt bouncing in the water on the trailer sold me.

I saw Piranha 3-d, so the chances are fair, I'll see it if it comes locally.

Spoiler:
Conan was worth it for the nose.

IT is better than the destroyer but compare with the original barbarian(82)is not possible in every aspect of movie making( directing ost etc..).

Um the original movie had but one thing going for it. well two. James Earl Jones is a bad ass even in a poor movie. The soundtrack rocked.
