So I'm not the only one that sees that. Is that what it really is? Does anyone know?

What toy shops? I say that if they screw Smaug up, they screw the entire film up. I envision Smaug somewhat like a red dragon from 3.5. Definitely not like dragons from flight of dragons.

Smaug

What toy shops? Just read the Hobbit. You'll be surprised. Police, check. Toy shops, check. Middle Earth is a strange place indeed...

Indeed.

Thankfully GDT didn't get to go forward with his lousy ideas of what Smaug would be like.

Better yet, that painting is what they are using for how Smaug will look.

It's easy to overlook. It's like in the guy's forehead above the hairline. I guess it's a bit of pickaxe. Or rock. Hopefully not obsidian...

Trying hard not to think about the implications of the scene inside his skull if that's the case.

That is Bifur with the pickaxe in his head. Since the dwarves are dressed for war, I guessed they are gearing up for the Battle of Five Armies and the wound was a result of either the battle or their journey. However, I rewatched the third production video where it showed them in Bag End and the pickaxe is there already. So the wound happened pre-Hobbit and was left in. Ouch. ^:-(

I trust Jackson with the dwarves, although I think a few of their faces (and bodies) are too thin.

I'm glad they included Beorn, he was one of my favorite characters in the book. What's not to like about a nigh invulnerable werebear tearing through hordes of humanoids?

Last I heard, The Hobbit was split into 2 movies, so there should be room to include almost everything.

Yeah i looked at a closer picture of it. It looks like a broken tip of an Orcish Axe. I think they are playing up the conflict that happens pre- Hobbit. I heard rumors he was going to include it.

I have to say, the lads are lookin good.

Production Video #4 is up. Talks about how the film is being shot in 3D, with some scenes thrown in for good measure.

Why must every film now be made 3D? *SIGH* I was hoping Peter Jackson would not do 3D.
