Skender Ruggova |

Skender grunts away the pain, attacking the crystal creature[E1] with both weapons, clearly angered by the blood now flowing from his wounds.
Attack 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attack 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage 1 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage 2 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"Come on, Coross, we need you back here. Take care of that one, and get moving."
After his actions, Skender will 5 foot step to N7
Edit: forgot bless.

Rafael Ler'it |

Updated map after Skender's move into N7.
Gah...I accidentally edited my last post instead of posting a new one so I'm repeating it here.
Rafael touches his wooden Holy symbol on his chest and says, "Spirituum virtute alveum positiva per me."

Coross Kelson |

Laughing as the creature's attacks bounce off of his spell, Coross' sword flashes out in another attack as he casts a spell, attacking more recklessly since the creatures' attacks are held at bay by the Shield.
Full Round Action: Spell Combat, not casting defensively and provoking an AoO.

Skender Ruggova |

Here is the map so far into Round 04.
That's correct, but if we are counting my round of actions, then I am in N7 after my five foot step.

DM Patcher |

Skender retaliates after being hit, but the creature's bestial stance proves to be unpredicable and difficult to adjust to. He fails to land a right strike. Frum finds it too difficult as well, not able to land a strike. Darche, not adjusted to the odd composition of the crystal on a moving target is unable to strike well enough to do significant harm.
Zachary slips up on his feet, and the creature lashes out at the tiefling after parrying Darche's cane, though it is unable to hit. this distraction, however, allows Coross to finish his spell, and deliver a decisive blow; it screams and keels over, its crystals breaking apart. Lucca manages to get up on his feet. Rafael emits another wave of healing energies, revitalising you all.
Skender has enormous difficulties parrying the beast's relentless blows, yet he manages to block all but one strike. Frum, however, overextends when parrying a strike, and is consequently struck savagely across the chest and face - and a second strike has him falling unconscious as the creature stabs him with his claws next to the neck.
You all heal 1 point of damage. Zachary, you were not hit when you provoked. Skender, you suffer 4 points of damage; Frum, you suffer 13 points of damage and have lost a total of 16 if my math is not wrong - you should be at -5.

Darche Schneider |

On my turn. Action one, if the creature is still alive, otherwise, check the spoiler for action two.
Darche quickly trusts at the beast again with his cane, quickly spinning away after wards.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (5) = 7
5 foot step to 8k again.
If the crystal thing threatening me is dead. If I'm the one who killed it, then I only move to L8
Darche spins away from the corpse of the beast, moving up to the fallen Frum. Again, he emits a pulse of energy stopping the bleeding, and leaving a cat shape paw print where he touched Frum.
Remember, the paw print thing is just flair and goes away unless you don't want it to.

Coross Kelson |

Coross sees Frum fall, and redoubles his attacks on his oponent, hoping he can get to the other creatures in time. He jumps nimbly to the right, almost taunting the creature, as he once again twirls his sword in a flourishing attack and boldly casts a spell.
Free Action: 5' step to I8.
Full Round Action: Spell Combat yet again, casting non-defensively and trying to soak up the AoO away from my teammates.

Coross Kelson |

Coross , you should make another post, as you actually killed E3. I just noticed it myself. In any case, you can now come down here to the deep end of the pool. As in, deep in $h!t.
Oh, hey look at that. Lets pretend this happened instead.
7 Rounds Remaining on buffs
Coross turns to Skender's cry as he kicks the remains of the second crystal creature off of his sword, then charges at the remaining two creatures.
Alright, Skender, Stand back. Incoming!

Here's the map for the end of Round 05 immediately before our actions are resolved. Everyone has acted.

My next post will be in 21 hours.

DM Patcher |

1d20 - 3 ⇒ (11) - 3 = 8
Skender and Zachary work in tandem to eliminate the wounded creature, the soulknife's blades parting an opening for the tiefling's spell to melt through its ... throat? None of you can tell right away if they have proper physiological traits but it still collapses in a pile of crystals, unable to scream.
Darche stops Frum's excessive bleeding with his powers, as Coross launches an assault against the last creature, though it blocks his attacks. Lucca attempts to move in to strike as well, yet that part of the tunnel is a large cluster and he has to resign to staying in the back; Rafael once again calls out the powers he commands, to heal you all.
The last creature launches yet another assault, this time at Coross as Frum has fallen; Coross, however, has adapted entirely to the creature's tactic and style, and easily blocks every single blow.
Frum, you lost 1 hit point for failing the stabilise roll (since you didn't roll it yourself) - though you are now stable thanks to Darche. You all heal 2 hit points.
Crystal Guardian 4 Attack roll 1 on Coross: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Crystal Guardian 4 Attack roll 2 on Coross: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Crystal Guardian 4 Attack roll 3 on Coross: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Crystal Guardian 4 Damage roll 1 on Coross: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Crystal Guardian 4 Damage roll 2 on Coross: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Crystal Guardian 4 Damage roll 3 on Coross: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Zachary McDonald |

With a grim satisfaction, Zachary watches as the creature collapses after being hit with the corrosive spell directly in the throat. His attention then turns to Frum, still lying unconscious on the floor next to the combat. He rushes over and pulls Frum to safety.
If you want a Combat Maneuver Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
However, I figure I could do it pretty easily given that he's both unconscious and a gnome. Using the Drag Combat Maneuver, so he won't take an AoO.

Skender Ruggova |

Skender will 5 foot step to O9, delaying until Coross steps into the now Frum-Free M9 to attack.
"Just one more left. If you could move over a bit to distract it, Coross?" Skender says as he licks his lips in the heat of the battle.
After Coross presumably moves to M9; if he doesn't move, subtract 2 from attack bonus, and 1 from damage:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Attack 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Coross Kelson |

Seeing that Frumm is safe, Skender is positioning himself, and that there is only one creature remaining, Coross steps in front of it, interposing himself in front of Rafael, his sword flashing out at the last enemy as he and Skender effortlessly complement each other's attacks.
Free Action: 5' Step to M9
Full Round Action: Attack the last remaining enemy.
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Touch Attack:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Critical Confirmation:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 -> or x2
Spell Damage:1d3 ⇒ 2

DM Patcher |

Skender delivers a brutal onslaught of attacks, removing one of the beast's arms and cutting open its stomach; it lets out a shriek as Coross moves in for the coup-de-grace. Blood would certainly have rained on all of you if it could bleed, but as Coross decapitates the creature, its head rolls down the cavern and its lifeless body crumbles on the floor.
Fatality?

Skender Ruggova |

Skender looks around to make sure there are no more Crytalline creatures emerging from the walls/ceiling.
Perception, JIC 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 +1 more if Rafael's Channel Bonus is still in effect.
If nothing: As Skender relinquishes his grip on the blades, they disappear, and he makes to shake the hand of Coross. " Well fought as ever, my friend."
If another appears: Skender charges the new foe.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
these are, of course JIC the rolls are needed. I don't know if I'll be able to post once we move on from this particular area, or even this particular moment in time.
Also, I agree, Patcher, that little snippet of combat was particularly overkill. I believe the total would have been some 27 points of damage. That's quite a bit on one target at level one, granted we hit pretty hard this particular time.

Zachary McDonald |

Lucca inspects the no-longer bleeding wound on his neck and shoulder. "Well. Everyone have all their organs?"
Zachary looks down at Frum. "Yeah, but Frum here'll need some more attention. His wounds still look pretty bad." He turns to Rafael, wincing a little but trying to conceal his own pain. "You got some more magic a-brewing?"

Skender Ruggova |

" Well, everyone enjoying the field trip so far? In my opinion, it just got a helluva lot better. We're finally getting to have some fun. "
Skender wipes whatever blood is still on his face onto his sleeve. He also returns to and picks up his lantern." Once everyone's at least somewhat patched up, can we get moving again? This little taste of combat has refueled my fire for the rest of the field trip!"

Rafael Ler'it |

Seeing as combat is over I'll not make a battlemap map...but instead move into a larger overhead map (I'm working on it).
After 140-foot corridor we are in I don't know what the enter looks like (we ar currently 70-feet in the 140-foot corridor).
Rafael says, "Thank you Darche for recueing Frum. Hopefully with this last spell I have I can revive Frum so he can thank you himself."
Rafael says, "Someone, please take some samples of these crystalline creatures while I tend the wounded. On Donte there are some iron vials inside the small chest."
Rafael says, "Vúlnera minorem curare," and his hand glows a warm light-blue light. He reaches out and touches Frum.
Rafael converts Command into Cure Light Wounds and heals Frum for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 - D'oh!
"Everyone gather round."
Rafael touches his wooden Holy symbol on his chest and says, "Spirituum virtute alveum positiva per me." A wave of positive healing bursts from him and washes over everyone.
Rafael Channels Positive Energy to Heal (5/5 uses) everyone for 1d6 ⇒ 2
"I have no more healing for the day. I must rest."
--
When I feel like we are no longer in imminent danger:
Rafael says, "Everyone who was injured I wish to examine your wounds. Don't know if these creatures carry disease or some other kind of otherworldly infection."
For those who will let me I will do a Heal check to see if anything is wrong or out of the ordinary:
Heal check on Coross 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Heal check on Darche 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Heal check on Frum 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Heal check on Lucca 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Heal check on Skender 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Heal check on Zachary 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Coross Kelson |

Coross sheathes his sword again with a flourish, and looks around at his and Skender's handiwork, obviously pleased with himself.
@Skender: Well, this is my kind of trip now. Best one I've been on.
Coross then bends down and picks up the severed head of the creature that he had just killed, giving it a cursory examination before moving to take samples from it like Rafael suggested. He carefully uses a small knife to pry a sliver off of the head into one of the vials and then takes a sample of the body on the floor in another vial, each of which is carefully labeled "head" and "body" respectively.
I fill one of Rafael's vials with a sample of the head and one with a sample of the body and label them accordingly before offering them both to Rafael.
@Rafael: Here you go, Professor Ler'it. I'm as interested to analyze these as you are.

Zachary McDonald |

"I have no more healing for the day. I must rest."
Zachary makes an indeterminate grumble and says, "Good, he's looking better. Thanks for your aid."
When I feel like we are no longer in imminent danger:Rafael says, "Everyone who was injured I wish to examine your wounds. Don't know if these creatures carry disease or some other kind of otherworldly infection."
For those who will let me I will do a Heal check to see if anything is wrong or out of the ordinary:
Heal check on Zachary 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Zachary allows the healer to examine his wounds.

DM Patcher |

The echoing of the cavern has died down; the crystals have shifted to a very faint green colour. Advancing further into the tunnel shouldn't pose a problem with the deaths of these creatures; you are unable to tell if there are more of them further up, however.
As Rafael examines you all, there are no symptoms or illnesses or other harm done apart from the vicious cuts and bites. Frum's body is still mangled and unconscius, but otherwise he looks like he will recover fine without incident.
The area is safe. What do you do?

Skender Ruggova |

"Well, whenever you guys want to get going is good for me. What'll we do with Frum, though? As he was the "leader" of this expedition, I expect that he would like to be conscious for the rest of it, not that I can really help in that endeavor. If need be, I've got enough rope to tie him onto Donte."
Skender takes out his harmonica to pass the time.
Perform Check:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Darche Schneider |

Ah tut tut.. I'm perfectly fine. It will take more than some crystal monster thingy to defeat me. Ack! Don't touch me there! Darche says to Rafael as he tries to examine him.
We may need to rest here. While its hard for the crystal monsters to defeat me, I can't say the same for all of you. And really, I need you here, alive, to be undefeatable by these sorts of monsters.

Zachary McDonald |

Ah tut tut.. I'm perfectly fine. It will take more than some crystal monster thingy to defeat me. Ack! Don't touch me there! Darche says to Rafael as he tries to examine him.
We may need to rest here. While its hard for the crystal monsters to defeat me, I can't say the same for all of you. And really, I need you here, alive, to be undefeatable by these sorts of monsters.
Zachary sighs and shakes his head, saying, "Yep, you certainly did a number on them with your stick." He rolls his eyes with a slight smile while turning to Skender.
"Well, whenever you guys want to get going is good for me. What'll we do with Frum, though? As he was the "leader" of this expedition, I expect that he would like to be conscious for the rest of it, not that I can really help in that endeavor. If need be, I've got enough rope to tie him onto Donte."
"We can't exactly go back through the way we came, so I guess our only option is forward. Hopefully we don't run into anything nasty, since we don't have any more curative magic."

Coross Kelson |

Cooss looks up and down the length of the passageway.
If we found a safe place to make camp, we could use it as a base to explore the extent of these caves. Also I must admit I did not think to prepapre appropriate spells for our situation. He holds up his spellbook. Tomorrow I would be able to prepare some more useful magics.

Rafael Ler'it |

Rafael says, "We may be safe here to rest. Look at the crystals, they are very faint green colour. This may be an indicator when the crystal creatures are ready to emerge. I wonder if there is something that is charging them or fueling them? I also wonder if there is anything that has been in these caverns recently? Hmmm..."
Knowledge (Arcana) about the crystals: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Perception check to find tracks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

DM Patcher |

While you aren't found by anything - if there was anything to catch you - you don't find much on the way up the tunnel apart from the myriad of crystals that stretch upwards almost endlessly.
These crystals are quite the enigma at this rate - none of your knowledge seems to stretch to the variety of these. Yet in a book, one you can only faintly remember, there was mention of a corridor of green crystals that indicated safety. Or horrible death. You can't quite remember.
You don't find any tracks nearby, apart from those of your companions. From what you can gauge, your group - and the crystalline beasts - are the only inhabitants that have roamed these tunnels in who knows how long.

Zachary McDonald |

If Frum is regaining consciousness:
Zachary gives Frum a rough pat on the back. "Good to see you're still with us. Don't worry, we finished off the crystal creatures. Skender's gone to do some scouting of the tunnels, and Darche's concocting something smelly over there."

Rafael Ler'it |

Rafael says, "Well, we can't engage another group like that, so I suggest we double up on our watches while we are in these caverns. By the looks of it nothing living has been in these caverns for a long time. Maybe if we don't breathe they won't attack us.", as he smirks.
Rafael continues, "I wasn't planning on being trapped in a cavern so we best be careful."
I'll take last watch.
@Frum: Did you want to keep the Crowbar? If so let me know.

Skender Ruggova |

"Unless any of you guys have something else, all we've got is these crystals, and I really don't want to start taking these down again. If not, then two people will have to do.Until you all have decided how we're going to allocate watches, does anyone want a bite to eat?"
Skender will dole out a single ration of wandermeal to those who answer in the positive to his question.

Rafael Ler'it |

Rafael says, "We don't know how long we will be in here. I'd say we eat whatever food we have sparingly until we find some kind of food stuff. Unfortunately I didn't anticipate a long stay in these caverns and as such Donte here may need to be used as food for all of us in a couple of days."
Rafael takes the small chest off of Donte's back and places it on the ground. He opens the chest and digs out something wrapped in wax paper. Unfolding it you see a yellow piece of cheese carefully preserved. Rafael breaks off a piece for himself and Donte then passes the remaining to the others.
Rafael says, "I have 10 days worth of Wandermeal on Donte. We best make the most of it."
Rafael speaking to Coross says, "Feel free to find whatever you think we can use on Donte. We might as well use him as long as we can before he falls from starvation."
@DM Patcher: Is Knowledge (Dungeoneering) and/or Survival when looking for food underground?
