Since we are getting shopping advice, I am looking at a couple of different books today. Dwarves of Golarion, Ultimate Magic,and Magic of Golarion,or whatever it is called, campaign book. Which of these would the 10ish dollars for the pdf be spent on?
It seems UM is a bit of a let down, is this true or have people been a bit harsh lately?
Inner Sea Magic gets my vote - probably one of my favourite Paizo books ever (and I pretty much have them all).
Ultimate Magic content is available on the PRD for free - so you can try before you buy on that one.
Dwarves of Golarion has some nice-ish stuff in it, but pales in comparison to Inner Sea Magic.

Sorry I disappeared for two days, got back to my student house and everything got a bit stressful. The only housemate still there had gone home for the weekend and when I arrived I discovered that someone had smashed a hole in the back door and then gone methodically through our rooms taking anything of value, which included all our computers and all the electronics. Only just got my little laptop back from home and have spent the last two days stressing, talking to a policeman and then talking to the insurance company.

Indeed. Start watching Craigslist or similar sites. These jokers often try to sell your stuff on these sites do to the fact pawn shops get checked by the police weekly in most states, that is if you are in the US.
Yeah it sucks hard, I had a tonne of stuff on my computer I really didn't want to lose. They also freaking trashed the place, ripped drawers out, emptied everything onto the floor, seems like they smashed the tv because it was one of the old massive heavy ones and they couldn't be arsed to carry it. But on the upside, they didn't take any of my skateboards which are pretty much my most prized possessions and everything is insured so we should hopefully get it all back eventually.
Yep, checking ebay, gumtree and craigslist. Entire house full of electronic engineers and people doing hard sciences means pretty much each computer was custom built and reasonably recognisable, so there is a chance we might be able to spot them. The other more generic stuff I don't really hold out much hope for.
Especially the data loss would f!%! me up...no back-up on a protable hd or something like that?

Hahaha, backed up on a portable HD but it was sat snuggly behind my screen so they took that as well. I've got some of it that I burned onto bluerays but most of it is gone and my tiny laptop doesn't have a any form of disc reader so I'll have to wait for the insurance money to turn up.
I have a friend who just got robbed a week or two ago. They trashed her house, too. Beat her dog,pissed on all the beds and stole all of her underwear on top of all that! I figure it was some jerk-off teenagers high on adrenaline from nabbing things. Older thieves aren't that stupid most of the time or for the vandalizing just the loot and out.
Wow that is really really weird...in the sense of sick.
How could someone beat a dog like that? they should be hung!
I also tend to call for draconian punishment in such cases...on the other hand, what should we do with people beating people then?^^
