Profession Skill & Dhampir

Carrion Crown

I just started gaming so I decided to come to the experts right away with my question, even if it may seem kind of dumb. I'm a stickler for details in my character creation, but I'm a little confused on an issue. The character I created is a dhampir (on second thought after reading about some of the complications of such a character, I am beginning to regret that decision) rogue with an acrobat archetype. I'm having some difficulty selecting an option for the Profession skill because nothing really seems to fit. Dhampirs are generally disliked and regarded with suspicion in Ustalav, so in my mind they're sort of forced to live on the fringes of society. I can't picture anyone employing such a creature in any of the respectable Professions listed in the Core Rulebook. Besides, my character's backstory has them growing up on the streets. So I was wondering if it would be acceptable to list their Profession as a Thief, Pickpocket, or something similar? I know it's not listed in the Rulebook but it would make more sense to me to give a socially ostracized character a more shady Profession.

Why take the profession when you can make slight of hand checks everyday.

Something that allows you to work independently without the need for others. In the scarlet letter she supported herself by working really cheaply as a seamstress in a small hut on the edges of society. People continued to use her skills despite her ostracism, because she did good work and they could pay her almost nothing while simultaneously treating her badly.

So basically any profession that allows you to make a portable product Eg. Basket maker, seamstress (seamer?), etc. Also assume that your character is accustomed to being treated badly if his profession requires several others to hire you, such as seamstress. However if you make a product that you can have someone else sell (baskets) you only have to have a single individual to work with.

Liberty's Edge

You may want to invest a rank or two in disguise. A clever dhampir can make their way through life as a distrusted half-elf, as oppose to a hated vampire-spawn.
