I think this is the discussion. At least it mentions the guide in that post.

That's correct

Hey BZ, when you gonna drop the balloons for me, I just finished guide bingo.

Core: Barbarian
Advanced Players Guide: Alchemist
Ultimate Magic: Synthesis (shut up, it counts)
Advanced Class Guide: Investigator

And now the newest family to the series...

Ultimate Combat: Surpassing even The Boss: N. Jolly's guide to the Pathfinder Gunslinger and the discussion page.

I've now done a guide for every book that's had a new class release in it. Personally it makes me want to do a Magus guide just for the true bingo, but most Magus guides are really well done, and I'm not sure how much more I could add to the subject aside from adding newly released content.

Maybe I'll revamp the Synth guide later or fix up the Barb guide as a victory lap. Y'all gonna learn how to play this game good, yes you are!

N. Jolly, I for one appreciated your hard work, and I hate to do this to you, but...ARG? If Synthesis counts, then you need to cover an ARG archetype. If I may suggest Stonelord, on account of it dangnear being a whole new class?

A new class was not released in that book, only archetypes. My balloons will not suffer this indignity! I did a guide for an archetype for that, so yeah, it's not a perfect straight, but as I said before, the Magus guides out there are top notch, and cover the subjects perfectly. Love me some Warlock guide, one of my faves.

Although I've always had a paladin inch in my bones, I might work on something like that later. I do have donations open for people who want to request certain guides though.

Lantern Lodge

@ N. Jolly

You could help expand the current Magus guides instead of writting a new one. Or, write a guide for all of the odd ball magus archetypes. I've made a couple builds for the skirnir, though I have not a place to put them, could send some of those notes your way.

Shadow Lodge

Bingo!

If I was going to do a Magus guide, it'd either be a full guide or a Hexcrafter guide, as I do love Hexcrafter. Although there's tons of new material out for the class, and I'm not sure how well updated either guide is on new material.

Not really sure which theme I'd go with for it either, maybe Fairy Tail, since I like keeping a theme.

I feel like this should be included

I read it before i tried to join (and hell it even told me where I could) pbp and it explained a TON to me.

Silly me! Fixed!

Silver Crusade

Looks like the guide to the Hexcrafter is in the owner's trash, it won't let you look at it. Maybe this is god's way of telling me to make a Magus guide, but someone should probably copy it since it's a guide that I actually like and I'd hate to see it go away.

Also on a personal note, it's kind of jarring having some guides have sources listed while others don't. It'd be nice to see that more uniform.

Lantern Lodge

Uniformity amongst guides sounds nice...

Do we have a guide to guide writing yet? I need to use it to make a guide to guide writing...

[random tangent]Kinda funny that the spell checker doesn't register the word "amongst", I had to go look in a dictionary to make sure I was spelling it right O.o[/randomtanget]

Speaking of uniformity...

If folks wanted to pay me to format their guides and make them into spiffy .pdf files like I have for mine, I'd be open to the idea. It takes me a couple of hours to do the original layout, but once it's set up, updates usually take 10-15 minutes, depending upon how big the update is.

If you're interested, feel free to let me know and we'll discuss.

Best wishes!

I could swear there's something like that on GITP, I'll have to look for it again, but there was at least a short blurb on it. Personally I think a good way would just be to copy everything Treantmonk did word for word, but aside from that, anything could work for a project like that.

Sure - just let me know the sources when you post. For most of the guides it doesn't list them.

Silver Crusade

I suppose it's time to add this now since it's basically done.

Everybody starts somewhere

Finally a guide on how to character build for new players. It was a gift for a friend, figured I'd let it chill over here in the guide list though.

Shadow Lodge

Nice, I see that being very useful. Are you going to make a discussion page for it, or not bother? It's probably not necessary.

Nice guide.

Had a number of typos, that occasionally made reading hard, so I sent you a PM with some edits.

Your announcement of the guide does not mention a guide.

Broken Zenith asked if you were going to have a discussion page.
Two days later no notice of a discussion.

I did not look for a discussion page, because it did not seem like there would be one. :-)

I post comments, and 3 minutes later, you respond with the link. I feel like I was ninja'd. :-)

Is anyone else having trouble getting Professor Q's complete guide on Wizard to load?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Loading fine for me. But you'll want to switch to viewing mode instead of the default suggesting mode. It's been vandalized all to hell. (Incidentally, I'd really love to give the people at Google who decided that all documents should allow suggestion mode by default a good kicking.)

It crashes before I can even get to the point of switching views.

KingmanHighborn wrote:

Yeah, it crashes for me too, kinda sad.

Also just saved the Hexcrafter guide (might be doing my own later but that's beside the point), just so you know here's the link for it.

I don't plan on updating it myself, just saw it was in the garbage and figured it shouldn't be.

Hello random people. I made a guide for the ACG wizards spells, as well as some of the wizard spells from other misc sources. I made it in google docs, but I've never used it before and I don't know how to make a link to share to it to share with the other people where they won't edit the crap out of it without my permission. Also, what board would I post a class guide in? Advice board or....?

Lantern Lodge

Advice, the typical method is to create a new thread in the advice forum with a link to your guide for discussion on the guide (and get feedback), and then post a link to both the thread and the good doc here.

Shadow Lodge

Regarding the google doc: Click on the blue share button near the top right corner. Click on advanced. Under "who has access" it should say "Private." Click "Change" next to that. Choose "On - Public and on the Web" and also "Access: Anyone CAN VIEW."

Make sense? Let me know if you have questions.

Hey, anyone got any ideas for a Hexcrafter theme, preferably from a video game or anime? Maybe a comic? If I could get enough Sista Spooky from Empowered, I'd just base it around her. It always feels weird that not being able to pick out a theme is holding me back from doing another guide.

Lantern Lodge

Well, Asuna from SAO might fit the concept, a little... Uses a Rapier, wears light armor, and later starts focusing on magic (though mostly buffs and heals). Maybe someone from Shaman King? Heck, even Future Trunks from DBZ would fit the deal. As for video games, WoW enhancement shamans are essentially Magi. Characters from Final Fantasy or Tales of X (like Tales of Sephonia) would also do well IMO. Maybe a Jedi, if only they used something other than lightsabers they'd work better.

Characters from Naruto, Fairy Tale, Bleach, Angela from Eragon (or other such characters), Tamora Pierce characters...

And yeah, I think I've run out of ideas for you. :(

Hmm, depends on the hexes you'd pick out. Prehensile Hair on a Hexcrafter could bring out a Bo-bo-bo (if male) or Miltia Rage from Guilty Gear. Flight and Controlling weather makes me think of either Weather Wizard or Storm.

You could possibly abuse the hell out of the Hex Arcana and become Kumagawa from Medaka Box. Turn those hexes into some kind of amalgamated All Fiction that makes opponents weep and yourself laugh like some kind of uber troll. ... Ye gods, what have I wrought upon this earth?

If only the Jhereg series by Steven Brust were in comic format. . . Kurohime might supply some interesting ideas. . .

Silver Crusade

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Probably gonna end up going with Fairy Tail, it's the only thing with enough images to make this work.

Also could you removed my Synthesis guide from the list? It's really below my standards, and if I ever get back to it, I want to make a better effort of it than I have already.

N. Jolly wrote:

Whew. Glad I got to the list to bookmark the guide before it got removed. Heaven forbid I lose it. Just want you to know that it's still really useful, even just the little bits that are there. Some guide being better than no guide. I was actually just showing it to one of my players just the other day.

This isn't exactly a class guide, but I just finished making my Character Creation Guide for Pathfinder PbP. I think new and experienced players alike can benefit from it.

Liberty's Edge

Could the person who made the professor Q wizard guide fix the guide? It looks like someone vandalized it again and the writer, as amazing as he is with pathfinder (I will never know, cause the guide is ruined), he clearly forgot to disable the ability for anyone to edit the doc.

Also, someone who isn't N.jolly needs to write up guides like his, but aren't full of Japanese vomit. Anime *shudders*

I believe if you turn off suggestions mode and turn it to read only, all the vandalism disappears.

snickersimba wrote:

Try not being an ass here. If you don't like it, you don't like it, no need to be calling anime 'Japanese Vomit' especially since there is a substantial percentage of the world wide population who very much so enjoy anime.

Also, anime tends to have many, many fantasy themes and it makes it very easy to find character art depicting what you want if you browse through anime collections.

I'm fairly certain this is the most recent version of Professor Q's guide, though I can't be 100% positive. Still, if anyone wants to see a copy without the vandalism, go to this link. It's located on Microsoft's One Drive, in case that causes issue for anyone (I believe One Drive has issues when viewed on mobile).

Has anyone put together a Guide for the Brawler class yet? I've seen various discussion threads, some based on the Mutagenic Brawler archetype and others advising dips into other classes, but I'd love some help/advice with a pure Brawler using Martial Flexibility to its fullest. Seems like the class is all about feat selection (and equipment selection, I suppose).

Still, Its got no purpose to exist in a pathfinder guide, at all. Its a pathfinder guide, anime has no place in it. Thats like... indescribably wrong. The fact stands, it doesn't matter WHAT kind of anime it is, its still anime and it still will annoy the crap out of me because of the idea that it spawned nekos.
