Dragon Magazine style character portrait collections. Color or B&W?

Gamer Life General Discussion

Silver Crusade

Which would you prefer if someone were to put some of these out again as part of a larger product?

And to add to that, what half-orc and orc player character types would you want most that haven't been provided elsewhere?

Just checking. :)

Scarab Sages

Color and Black and white. Then you can choose what you want to print depending on your needs.

Dark Archive

Full colour can be nice, but I personally like the B&W images if they were for character portraits.

Orcs have been portrayed as a tribal race, so something that incorporates different aspects of said tribe would be interesting. Things such as a witch-doctor, shaman, the warrior-champion, and it's many smaller parts.

I'm having a devil of a time finding images (forget about a mini-- I'm convinced that's impossible at this point) for the female half-orc paladin I'm playing in our upcoming PFRPG campaign, but I recognize that's an unusual combination, so I wouldn't expect to find something perfect.

Silver Crusade

Thanks guys. Honestly considering going both ways now. It shouldn't be too much more on the art budget.

Spoiler:
I can pretty much guarantee two examples of that combination is on tap. ;)

There's also one example in the art for Book of Exalted Deeds, IIRC.

I prefer black and white, myself.

Half-orc sorcerer, maybe? Not sure.

For the mini, try to see if you can find yourself a Cleric of Kord, from Archfiends D&D mini collection.

Yeah. I'd seen that before. The skirt really doesn't work for

me in visualizing this character.

I prefer black and white, especially where orcs/half-orcs are concerned. Sometimes I'll find great pics, but they're done in the ubiquitous Hulk green, which I find a bit too cartoony-looking for a good PC pic. I like my orcish skin colors a bit more fleshy looking and less filled with chlorophyll... If I want color, I usually put them in my Serif PhotoPlus program and color them myself.

Given that half-orcs aren't prone to being stupid any longer, I wouldn't mind seeing a few good orc wizard pics.

I have a half-orc paladin mini from Reaper. It doesn't look like it has the... female... extras... but it's a half-orc, so it's hard for me to tell. It has a pony tail, so with the right paint job it could go either way.

If you type "half-orc paladin" into their search, it should come right up.
