Huh, I wonder if a morally grey fantasy world would immediately be labelled as Dark Fantasy or if it requires something more than that. I'm also kinda baffled by the exact differences between High Fantasy, Heroic Fantasy and Low Fantasy, since it seems that some of my own story ideas seem to have some traits from two or three of those at the same time after having a look around TVtropes on the matter. Then again, should I even be worried about such labels in the first place?

Speaking off snow....read a FB post from a former co-worker back in Philly. She already had 4 inches this morning, with more of the evil frozen sky water coming down. HA!
Nyah Nyah Nyah! Ain't no snow for me!!!!
Got some yesterday after work, but it didn't stick and was mostly gone this morning, except for a few traces on the windows of my car. Thank goodness.

As a fellow hater of the cold, I recommend it on the purposes of much preferring the weather. I enjoyed most of the eight or nine years I spent out there.
That said, the job market in Arizona is still pretty wretched, last I heard. So if you don't have something already arranged that you're pretty sure will stick, it will likely be very difficult to find work.

I say to you no, no, a thousand times no! Labels have their uses, but TV tropes has gone far beyond providing definitions to outright bad-girl-Weaver level calcification. Blend the genres, blur the lines and cross the streams. Make your world live.

How can I penetrate Orthosville but not Amby land? Hmmm...

In other news, I discovered whilst 3/4ths of the way to work that my job was closed today. My supervisor was amazed that I hadn't called her or anything. She seems to be forgetting the time I was chewed out for being late during the last day it snowed. Ah well. I have business in Manhattan town anyways. Will take a few pics for ppl if this train gets moving... sips corn meal porridge quietly

I currently have around 5 inches of the white stuff outside, with the forecast calling for another 4-8 inches over the next few days.
It's almost enough to make me give serious consideration to moving to Tempe with my brother.
See, I bring families closer together! No need to thank me.

I don't hate the cold (unless it is too cold, like right now when it is about -5 outside). I don't even hate snow. I hate when there is a bunch of snow at once. An inch is fine. Even two, if it comes down slowly over the course of the day. I hate when we get inches of the stuff in just a few hours, too fast for the roads to be cleared.
In fact, I prefer cool or cold to hot. Arizona would likely be miserable for me. I know north Florida was.

GURPS Fantasy 4th edition had a page or so dedicated to describing distinctions between various fantasy subgenres. I don't recall exact differences betwen High and Heroic at the moment but Low Fantasy is distinct by both scale and type of characters present.
You don't have to be worried about the labels until you reach the point where critics opinion will start to influence sales of your books. And even then you can get label of refreshingly new (or crappy) by breaching barriers between subgenres.

The first five minutes are kinda heartbreaking though.
Yeah, a lot like that.

Caught a bit of the Blade movie on last night....the first one. Good movie, but that whole vampires as a race and you can be born as one was really f*&%ing idiotic.
It's an old trope (maybe even going back to the original concept of vampires), just a pity they didn't pull it off well.
Anyway busy last couple of weeks, even when I have had time haven't really had the motivation to keep up with the forums :(
