Well last nights game was ....meh. Turns out 7 players, 3 of which weren't here last week, causes some confusion.
The cavalier had a spirit quest to attune his earthbreaker, which turned into a "you said tug on the shaft....heh, heh."
Then the party got to the dungeon proper & at least 3 were still choosing spells when the others went running off.
Also there was the disappointing (non)use of Dwarven Forge terrain. Well I suppose the 'finale' next week might be better.

I feel tired and slightly out of it, what with not having slept well for a week now. I seem to be having way too much stress lately (mainly thanks to my dad taking out the frustrations of his own failures on me and my siblings), and that makes me worry about how I'll do in the entry exam to university, which in turn causes me even more stress. I'm burning out, and I don't know what to do. I don't have time to rest, I don't have time to write my stories, I don't have time to study, I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME!

Good morning one and all! Hope you're all doing well and have a lovely day. :)
I think I have come down with a cold. Last night I had to do that thing where you sleep on one side so that one sinus is blocked and the other is clear, and that's the only way you can breathe.
Work is kicking my ass right now, so no sick days for this celestial.
D: Feel better!
No cake, no presents...
At least I am not getting older this year.
Now to bed... Internet supplies seem to be reaching critical levels... And there are eight days remaining until new allowance is provided. I might need to reduce my internet activity for some time to avoid overpaying :/
Happy birthday, hope you were able to have a good one. :) And sorry about your limited internet woes. :(
Interview Monday!
Woo! Good luck. :)
I've never actually had rabbit. How is it?
Prepared well, it is very, very tasty. I've had it out in a few different places, and prepared it once myself. All times, it was tasty goodness.

:( Seriously sorry to hear your troubles Icy. I hope things can improve for you soon. If you need a hand that internet folk can help out with, or even just a person to rant to, send me a pm.

Sorry to hear that, Icy. I hope things turn around for you.
Plus, pardon me for saying this, but your dad sounds like an a@~%~!&.

We have a pirate themed bounce house thingy for Charlie's party on Sunday. Damnable thing's got a slide and basketball goal! All they had when I was a kid was either with walls or without.
Kids these days - they don't know how lucky they've got it.
I'm not sure where, but I saw a thread online complaining that the trampolines nowadays have plastic covers over the springs. People were livid over the increased safety, and went on about how the scars from getting one's limbs and sensitive bits caught in the snap of the spring was an important part of childhood development. Some showed pics of scars and compared.

Funny enough, the one time I injured myself on our trampoline, I didn't get a scar from it. I caught my foot in the spring as I fell backwards off and sliced it evenly right down the middle of the top of my foot, but you wouldn't know it from looking at it now. Despite my 14-or-so-year-old self saying otherwise, the wound wasn't very deep, which is probably one main reason why.
While admittedly it does look like a silly complaint, overall, there are some times I wonder if all our attempts to safety-seal and sanitize everything are going to backfire on us someday when the next generation hasn't gotten the exposure and endurance from experiencing these sorts of things, especially when young. (This obviously does not count things where we've just found a safer way to build up resistance/immunity, like vaccines.)

You know what amazes me?
I read threads in gaming forums - the realm of smart people, where physical strength doesn't matter - and there's discussion after discussion after argument after rant about whether females "belong" here or in comic books or as characters in video games at all. Online games are notoriously hostile to actual women, as well as the LGBT community.
Then I watch the Olympics. This is stereotypically the realm of testosterone-fueled, chest-beating dumb jocks, where there are actual, discernible differences between physical capabilities of men and women. Yet I see men and women both training and competing hard, coaching one another, cheering each other on, exulting in all the victories and mourning the losses. The folks who skied in tribute to Sarah Burke were not just women. Everyone mourned the loss of the woman who got women's events into the X-games and halfpipe skiing into the Olympics. Johnny Weir dresses however the hell he pleases and is acclaimed as an intelligent and insightful commentator, whatever his personal preferences might be.
Kinda makes ya think, don't it?

It boggles my mind the stuff you mentioned first off still happens.

wait
are you saying the olympics are only for dumb male jocks?
or that most sports are only for dumb jocks while the olympics are not?
or that only the olympics are breaking down barriers in gender, outlook, sexuality and equality?
She's saying the following: (Speaking in generalizations of course)
Sports are usually portrayed as meant for jocks, especially among the "nerd"/"geek" community(/ies), and with a natural bias in favor of men, who are on average larger, taller, stronger, and/or otherwise physically superior.
Whereas those communities usually see themselves as intellectually superior, and physical traits such as size, strength, gender, and other traits don't/shouldn't matter as much because those sorts of things don't limit your mental capabilities.
Yet among the supposedly more intellectual community, where race/gender/etc. shouldn't matter, she's seen a lot more bias against females than in The Olympics, the biggest sports/athletics competition in the entire world, so basically the pinnacle of what is typically portrayed as a "jock/masculine" community.
Hope that makes more sense?

wait a minute - there's a girl on the Internet?? Unpossible!!!!
More seriously, the more insular a hobby or sport is, the more closed minded it can be.

It's always been strange to me that it's so, considering there have always been women present in my gaming groups - Ebon was one of the people who got me into gaming, and she, or Scint, or others have always been present when I've had a group together for PnP gaming. And there were plenty of women who played regularly on the various Neverwinter Nights servers we used to hang out on. I think there was a grand total of maybe a month where I was in a gaming group that didn't have a female participant, and that very quickly got rectified by Ebon joining the party; the only reason she wasn't involved in the first place was because I'd only just discovered the group and hadn't told one about the other and vice versa.
So it was kind of a culture shock to get onto places like WOTC's forums and Paizo (though it's not as bad here as elsewhere, or so I'm told) and discover there are still people clinging to the old "No girls on the internet", "No girl gamers" cliches.

(This obviously does not count things where we've just found a safer way to build up resistance/immunity, like vaccines.)
There's some evidence that there's a tie between vaccine usage and weaker immune systems. Plus, also, there's some worry that viruses might be evolving new tactics for dealing with vaccines. Specifically, in mutating faster, striking populations faster, mutating into new strains in other areas, and similar items. Viral evolution is known to exist, but is probably the most poorly understood evolution sequence known... and it's also one that could spell death for large portions of humanity.
