I think, if Freehold were a super villian, and I his noble, heroic opponent, we'd be Dr. Winter and Captain Spring.
Now all we need is a Ms. Summer and Fall Boy and we're good.

He prefers to be known as Autumn Lad.

Nobody wants to be Fall Guy.

I made cinnamon rolls and Columbian coffee for breakfast. Too bad everyone else is sleeping through their alarms. OM NOM.

Lee Majors had a brief stint as one.

Can you send one of those cinnamon rolls my way? Please?

And DC/Brad Meltzer made him rapey just for shock value, pretty much ruining the character.

Agreed. I like my villains dark, but that was truly out of character for him.

I suppose since I'm already tired, this bodes well for the time change this weekend.

Dammit, going ahead an hour!!! I'm gonna be jet lagged all week!!!

I had kind of an interesting time at the Jimmy John's drive-thru tonight.

Jimmy John's Employee: "I'm so glad you chose Jimmy John's tonight. What can I make for you?"

Me: "I'd like a number 10 with no tomatoes..."

JJE: "We sure do hate them tomatoes."

Me: "Add bacon..."

JJE: "I would love to put bacon on your sandwich."

Me: "And easy hot peppers."

JJE "Yum, yum. We love those hot peppers, but not too many."

Me: "That's all."

JJE: "You sure? You don't want some delicious chips or a tasty soda? Or how about one of our yummy cookies?"

Me: "No thanks, just the sandwich."

JJE: "Okay, that'll $7.76. I'll be waiting for you at the window."

I pull around to the window.

JJE: "That'll seven hundred and seventy-six of those little old pennies."

I hand him my debit card.

JJE: "Oh, plastic. So much more convenient than carrying a pocket full of change. Here's your card back, your receipt, a napkin, and your wonderful sandwich. I hope to see you again soon."

Me: "Good night."

JJE: "Yes. Yes it certainly is."

It was a pretty darn good sandwich.

Yeah, I've had fun with the customers like that too. Nothin' like working a low-end job with s#+$ty wages to bring out the weird in all of us.

Also agreed. From that point I winced every time I saw him brought into a book.

Happy? Hell yea! It's my Friday at work.

Scarab Sages

Today's weather is supposed to be much nicer than the last two days. No rain. Bit of sunshine. Temps in the 60s. Not bad.

No pigeon blitz this morning. This bird's gotta fly.

Freehold DM wrote:

The spring-forward night is always the worst night for me for sleep. I either try to go to bed early (which my body and brain refuse to do unless I'm drop-dead exhausted [but it can't be from exercise or labor too close to bed, otherwise my heart rate's too fast to sleep] or sick), or I go to bed at my "normal" time and lose an hour. Admittedly that latter is starting to look appealing this year, since my Saturday night/Sunday morning sleep routine is only one hour longer than my normal workweek nights.

I am so happy it looks like Tennessee is getting rid of recognizing the DST time change soon. I'll never have to deal with this again.

See, for once I'm kind of not looking forward to Friday. But only because I'm driving the wife and kidlets to New Orleans.

Scarab Sages

But then I am kind of sort of happy, because I get to leave them there.
