I'd guess that our reasons for disliking it are different, but yeah. I read the first book, threw it across the room when I finished it, and refused to read any more. Haven't seen any of the movies. Don't intend to.

What a loss. I admit the first book is fairly childish but then again so is the Hobbit. As the characters grow (and the audience) so does the story mature. While it never reaches Lord of the Rings story levels it is not a bad series. Some of the movies were fairly good as well. Much better in fact than a lot of Hollywood films.
